Full Version: Why are filos so good at...?

Why are filos so good at everything that has anything to do with entertainment/performance (and not much else)? Most filos I know, and from what I see on TV, a lot of filos are good singers, actors and/or dancers. I'm not saying there's anything bad about that, but what's up with that? LOL. I'm filo and I never used to dance much before, but I recently was invited to do hip hop classes by a friend (who's filo) who's a regular at the classes (and is pretty good at dancing I might add as well as the other filos there as well). Anyway, when I started the classes, I thought I was gonna be crap, or at least average at it, but then after observing other members in the class who weren't filo, I realised that I was pretty good at it compared to them haha. And by that I don't mean to sound arrogant or self-centered, I just thought that everyone would've been a lot better than me especially since it was my first lesson and all. So now I'm thinking being good at anything entertainment-wise is probably an inherent/natural thing for filos. Why is that?

UMMM...no were not. confused.gif icon_confused.gif
dont know where you got these ideas from but were no better or worse that anyone else. although the traditional kids dancing or singing competitions during family get together does help in training

Have you ever heard of "Giving others a chance" or "Beginners Luck"? Lol...just kidding bro.
I think we are good at dancing singing and acting. We've won multiple awards in those fields. Examples of groups or people who won international awards were the PhilHarmonic Orchestra, Jed Madela, those Pinoy Hip-Hop group, etc etc...so be proud you're a "filo" laugh.gif

thats a stupid reason to be proud to be filo, i sure as hell am proud to be one but its not for a petty reason like some pinoys won some awards. and there have been other peole who have won those same things and its dont mean that as a people they are good at it.
dampog
right on taktakboy. i guess some pinoys have this mentality that we are naturally better at this or that than other countries or what not. yes, we can be potentially as good or as bad as any in many fields but to have some superiority delusions is lame. but i guess it's understandable, many people would think that their people are best in this or that.
singing or dancing, yes, we love doing it in gatherings or by ourselves and probably that helps us but thinking we are naturally better is bull. any country can always produce someone as talented or a lot better than any artiste we brag about given the chance.

so if you are good in dancing or singing , be grateful but not cocky about it. strive to be always better.

Why are jews disproportionally awarded Nobel Prizes? Why are Blacks disproportionately represented in sports?

Sure the topic starter is appealling to stereotypes, but it doesn't make his question any less valid.

Use your heads for once before prematurely shooting down any racial issues.

aren't you proud of Pacman for winning those boxing matches for us? I think we should be proud because our fellow Filipinos (pls dnt call us filos or flips) did something outstanding in that sort of field that made us say that we should lift our heads up and be happy despite all the poverty, problems and dangers besetting our lives. But I have to agree that we should not have a mentality of "hey, we won 1st place...we're the best in the world!"...i think that's just stereotypical and plain ignorance. Talktohand.gif
Kiss_the_Girls
well, white people can't dance, and they know it.

^^^ Michael Jackson can dance...he is white right?

you know what when filipinos actually become as dominant in the entertainment field as those two peoples are at theirs then i might dignify such a stupid stereotype that filipinos are so good at entertainment. until then claiming such a stupid tittle because of a few minor success is fukking stupid.

been a fan of Pac even before his big win over Barrera, when he beat julio in the Tyson/Lewis undercard but again its stupid to be proud only cuz of his success. what Pacquiau did he did by himself, it was not something that as a people we did. i'm proud for him for what he accomplished with what little he had but its Pac who trains, its pac whose getting hit and people riding his victory as their victory is redicolous.

It does get annoying at some point but it does unite us in way, I say if it gives us something to be proud of then more power to it.

from what philfighter said those were international awards; they were competing against the world's best. Also consider that many of them had a disadvantage since many could not afford formal training, and most were probably not studying full time.

you seriously underestimate what it would be like to have an entire nation behind one person. Think about his conscience if he had lost.
