lol I don't like a lot of chinese food.

All the cantonese style roast and BBQ meats. Mmmmm.. EXCEPT PIGEON. How the fu-k can they eat rat-bird!? The worst dinner I ever had. lol

As a non-Chinese, I have trouble finding more traditional Chinese foods, since many Chinese food has become westernized. Chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce anyone? xD

Oh dim-sum is quite unique and delicious, but you can't eat it everyday.

I like Lo Mien. It's delicious.

Peaking Duck

i used to love what the posters posted above, but seems like those items are mainstream..

what i like is yue don..assorted meats and vegies cooked in soup broth.
noodles from xinjiang region...really fresh noodles.
hot pot..
siu yea...night time/drinking beer food.

yes i like those dumplings too! yumyum. also xiaolong bao are pretty nice. also custard buns XD egg tarts...pineapple buns...




most stuff you find in the chinese bakeries lol.

i like steamed fish, stuffed aubergine/tofu/peppers, ma po tofu, fried ho fun, sticky rice dumplings, soy chicken, sharkfin soup...lol i could go on forever XD

btw i make that red bean dessert:P it's quite easy but takes a few hours..

why?

My fav is sweet and sour pork. And some Chinese and Western fusion dishes I discovered in Taipei are my new fav!!!

Fusion noodle dishes I discovered from my trip to Taipei.



And this Taiwanese jello-like drink is very tasty too. Not sure what is made of. They call it aiyu(爱玉 love-jade).

I have many favourite Chinese dishes, but speaking of Chinese deserts, these three come to my mind immediately

1) 八寶飯, a traditional Shanghai desert




2) 高力豆沙, another Shanghainese desert



3) 冰糖雪耳木瓜糖水



I'm salivating now.......

lol my mum makes that sometimes... I don't like it. *shrugs*

ok i am about to vomit. Why do u have to ruin such a nice thread ?

so many good dishes its hard to choose...haha plus i dont know what anything is called. i really liked this one snack i got off the street when i was over there...its like a crepe outside and inside it has some crunchy thing, green onions, egg, and i think some kind of chili sauce. hahaha i bought one practically everytime i walked passed the lady that made them next to my hotel, lol by the end of my first week she would just start making one as soon as she saw me walking out from the lobby =P.

does anyone know what food im talking about?

I had fried scorpions in Beijing... it's actually quite tasty. Crunchy and a bit spicy.
