This article doesn't make sense. First it says:
QUOTE
About 100,000 Chinese die annually from diseases associated with passive smoking
And then in the next paragraph:
QUOTE
The Ministry of Health reported that nearly one million people die from smoking-related diseases each year in China
So which is it? Is it a hundred thousand dying each year from smoking-related diseases or nearly one million?
Anyway, we all know that smoking is bad, but if we're talking about China then I'd say that there are also a number of other factors involved, such as air pollution, health awareness and production/safety standards.
