Fullerton?

Fullerton - the rooms are small unless you wish to pay more for more space

what is the budget are we talking about here?

Romantic hotels are obviously the likes of Ritz Carlton ...choose the marina view...awesome. Slightly cheaper or comparable would be Oriental Singapore. Before renovation it was affordable to my pocket, after renovation....its beyond my reach already

Sentosa old beaufort hotel now called as Sentosa Spa hotel is one place you wanna take your love once...the minute you step into the room....you just wanna do it...trust me....its great

Other good ones is Swissotel the Stamford...try to get 55th floor onwards....the view is awesome

It would depend on what you want to use the hotel for. If it means only to sleep and shower....no need to spend so much...for budget ones ...not really budget like the sleezy hotels but the ones such as peninsula or excelsior ...which is in the heart of the town with so so bedroom

But if the rooms is for quality time with your love ones....I am the man for you to ask....Dr Love is in for consultation man

I always use ratestogo.com if I need a room urgently and last minute. But I also frequently chooses any promotion going on but if you fly to SG via SQ.....you will get damn good deals...some give you 50% off using your bording pass.

thanks for the insights guys. actually, it would be used just for sleep and shower. 4 of us (my high school buddies) are going there for a pleasure cum business trip. 1 of them have been around the world, 2 are 1st time out-of country travel, but all 3 are 1st time sin ja pour visitors.

they would much prefer one on the cbd, near to sim lim area. since most of us are interested in electronics and gadgets galore. being the former singapore resident in the group, i was the unanimous "tour guide". btw, we're all guys and 2 are ethnic fil-chinese.

i've been calling travel agents here in the phil., most hotels offered in their package tours are fr the " sleazy" hotel 81 & fragrance at geylang area to 3-stars summerview, oxford, grand central, bayview, to marina mandarin and the crown prince.

I have one suggestion for you....

book a budget flight to Singapore....dat depends on where are you coming from. But if the flight time is more than 2 or 3 hours....please use the ordinary airlines which serves food and drinks for free.,...comfort is more important than being so tight budget as you will spend more on others. Book your flight via the internet...there are many..

hotels.....this the best last minute hotel reservation website....

http://www.ratestogo.com/

peninsular no longer is cheap...now its S$160....sorry 1 quoted wrongly juz now

hotels near sim lim is albert court...a very nice boutique hotel...but the surrounding may not be pleasant as its juz beside the road with heavy traffice...difficult to get cab or parking spaces. Hotel bencoolen is also ner sim lim....but sleazy activities are on the offering as it is a 3 star property...unless you like this stuff as well....

Please try to look up at the website...and tell me your prefer hotel and budget and I will advice which hotel is the best for you

Dun worry about being near to the hotel....In SG.....everything is nearby and public transportation is splendid and affordable
Role Model
i haven't stayed in any yet... but i heard they're quite expensive

I stayed in Hotel Bencoolen back 4 to 5 years ago and I think that hotel is pretty safe and is value for money.

I think value for money hotels are YWCA at Fort Canning....but rooms are small.....but I think if there are 4 of the gang....stay in Ritz....share 4 person and ask for extra bed..... you stay in ritz especially the marina view rooms.....you would never ever want to stay elsewhere. Service is targeted at 100% nothing less and obviously beyond customers expectation...look for Mr Douglas Fernandez the manager on duty.....he will make your trip a memorable one beerchug.gif

I've stayed at the le meridian, Pan Pac, Mandarin(next to Pan Pac), Shangri La, Conrad, and the one opposite the road to Le meridian on Scotts Rd. To me a hotel is a hotel is a hotel. The Marina Mandarin was abit old and needed a room facelift but all the opther hotles were of an appropriately high standard.
DutchEastIndiesMan
^ nah I hate old hotels...gives me the creep and also sometimes a bit yucky.
and one more thing the food there should taste good and they should have room service 24/7 biggrin.gif
lostnexposed
eh..dont most hotels provide room service 24/7?!?!?! at least all the ones Ive been to have provided this!

Hmm..good foood? Definitely save up for Raffles! I love that revolving restaurant on the top floor though Im not sure if its still there( i mean the revolving part).

Another good one would be that hotel restaurant that Anthony Bourdain went to....but I cant remember the name!!!!

BTW...I have a friend who wanted to visit Singapore in August...but had no clue the f1 race was gonna be on..and he said the hotel prices are CRAZY..even the budget hotels have been marked up!!! SO he ended up changing his vacation time to october! hehe
tangawizi
Whcih Raffles are u talking that has the revolving restaurant? You don't mean the old Raffles Hotel do u? That's like $3000 a night. But if u mean the Westin Stamford, that has been renamed as the Swisshotel. And the resto at the top is called the Equinox... it may have changed its name again...

Anthony Bourdain ate at alot of places in Singapore, including Geylang hee hee! biggrin.gif

Yeah, prices in hotels with a view over the marina and F1 circuit is charging up to $5k a night. If HDB flats were built closer to the marina, the owners for sure would be renting out their rooms at $500 a night too!!! biggrin.gif
lostnexposed
haha..yeah...westin stamford/swisshotel...for some reasons i always call that raffles hotel because of the shopping centre. anyway...yeah..i used to go to the revolving restaurant all the time...but like a long time ago..when the restaurant was called "compass rose". anyone remember that? or am i seriously old?!?!

I know, I once paid $17 for chicken rice in a hotel. I'd arrived late and was too tired to go out looking for food, which I'm sure would have been cheaper ieven taking into account the taxi fare and taste better then what I got.

Its meritus mandarin at orchard road...hainanese chicken rice. Back then it was said to be the best in singapore. these days it cost $25 I think. Had it once before....nothing fantastic....its an entree....so its a little comforting to pay little higher in a hotel. The meritus mandarin is the indonesian favourite hotel. On sundays they have mass in the ballroom

Rico's right. It was the Meritus Mandarin and the reason I tried it was becasue they claimed they were the best Chicken Rice in Singapore, and it wasn't. I'm so embarassed, I feel like a such a foreigner......... but I guess I am laugh.gif .

back to the hotel thing.....yesterday a fren from malaysia was asking me to check on the budget hotel in singapore for his parents coming down for a holiday sort.....my god....all the prices have gone up like crazy. Peninsular hotel used to be the cheapest of the lot for 100++.....these days its $412....albert court used to be $120 something....now its $377++

check the website ...RATES TO GO

I think hotel 81 and all those $hit hole hotel is what people can afford next
