Why did this go unanswered?... I think Waray Waray is the coolest Filipino language. Can u teach us some stuff.
j_diddy
^ waray has quite a lot of spanish words mind you.
Graham_Cracker07
Can u describe this language & how it sounds. I've only heard it a couple times i thought it sounded cool, but i dont really kno how to explain how it sounds.

And Bisaya! I can still speak some stuff but its startling how a lot of words are similar to 'Spanish'.

Anyway i'm off. Good day everyone.

I'm not really much of a linguist here dude but yes, Waray seems to use a lot of Spanish and Bisayan words.

For example, the names of all numbers from 10 onwards have been taken from the dictionary our Iberican friends. Contrary to Tagalog, the Waray language puts a premium on strength of delivery. It sounds as if finesse and flair has been added as an after-thought.

"may waray ba dinhi?" when spoken, would sound something like "mey wha-rey bah din-he"

I still think it's not as 'mahinhin' as Tagalog. Ever wondered why Bisayan maids pronounce words differently?
Graham_Cracker07
^ What does mahinhin mean??

I maybe wrong, but it seems like languages up north (like Ilocano) are more choppy sounding like Mainland Southeast Asian languages. While languages down south (like Waray) are more smooth like Indonesian languages. I thought Bisaya was smooth sounding until i came on here and ppl said Bisaya sounds like Chinese. So i dont really kno anymore.

**What i meanby "choppy" is lots of monosyllabic sounds. And by "smooth" i mean lots of vowel sounds.

we obviously see things differently.
Graham_Cracker07
^Yeah, well maybe ur right. I don't really hear enough non-Tagalog languages, even tho we have ppl from all over the Philippines here. No one speaks their native languages, just Tagalog. I never thought of Tagalog as a "gentle" language until I heard other SEA languages like Vietnamese.
