I don't know if this is a repost, but here's the site if you want to vote. I think it wants you to register afterwards though too.

taj mahal is so dirty. is the probably the most dirty building in india. now the river behind it is nearly fully dried up even. please remember all the lives that went into creating this strutcture. incredible how many people died to build the tomb for a single person.
not that taj mahal is bad but voting for angkor wat of cambodia is just as good. after all its made in the name of our religion and likely that indians gave some help in creating or designing the complex in one way or another.

You can vote for seven things, so a person can vote for bot the Taj, Angkor Wat and five other places.

^ I have already voted for Taj-Mahal. And I also sent e-mails to my friends to do the same. We should be very careful because we need to choose seven wonders so choose the ones who you think are least likely to get the votes, and ofcourse always vote for the TAJMAHAL.

I don't think Taj is a dirty building. Agra is a dirty city but not the Tajmahal. Yes you can vote for the Angkorvat but also vote for the Tajmahal.

why would they oppose it? most of them will vote for anything indian even if its $hit.
i am opposing it because the lives that were taken in order to create it. and its crazy that so much was wasted on a tomb.
this vote is a nonissue in india really. i did not even hear about it until i read it here.

Bihari
Jun 5 2007, 09:47 PM
topics that guy started are in chinese chat. the majority seem to be. maybe he is a communist of a convert. i hear there is now well over 100 million christians in china so its possible.
with regard to tujue
firstly the second taj mahal i do not believe was built. there was a pool of water in some site a short distance away from the actual structure. and this pool of water was dark on the bottom and had the reflection of the taj mahal. it was known as black taj mahal but was just a reflection.
as to why taj mahal is dirty it is because of pollution. my friends that have went told me that the structure is not falling apart and it is very solid but the colour of the marble is turning yellow. marble is a delicate stone.
tujue
Jun 5 2007, 10:45 PM
The black part I put in was to amaze people and make them search for it

but I'm verry sad to hear that it is in bad shape but it can be fixed right or doesn't the marble let go of the yellowness?
Bihari
Jun 5 2007, 10:53 PM
http://www.blacktaj.org/i think it can still be repaired. i asked my friend about it and he said when he saw it about one year ago it was not in bad shape at all.
on the internet and newspaper i always read that it is damaged but my friend said this is not the case.
they are working to restore some damaged parts however and i think the damage can be resurfaced. pictures from just yesterday look no different from those of 10 years ago. i think people are just making noise for no reason.

Most people actually don't know this but the Taj Mahal used to be a Shiv Temple which was redesigned to create the current taj mahal.

Why because the shah jahan was a muslim?
Bihari

the religion of a person has nothing to do with this.
shah jahan will never be viewed as a good person in the eyes of indians no matter what their religion. if any indian has an ounce of patriotism they will despise this guy. he took the lives of many hindus and muslims in order to build his tomb. several lives lost and a lot of hard labour was done to make this.
Akbar who ruled before him and was a muslim was much better and more well liked here. though neither are viewed as saints akbar is far more loved.
also on another india forum i go to there have been many posts againg voting for taj mahal. most people will vote angkor wat

I've seen so many Taj Mahal paintings and miniature statues in Indian people's houses as if they're proud of the monument.
Plus, I'm sure enough second-generationers don't know much about Shah Jahan..They just know that the Taj Mahal is something that India is famous for. Even I was just told by my parents that the Taj Mahal was a symbol of a ruler's love for his dead wife. They never mentioned anything about the ruler himself.

i admit the building is incredible. its amazing they built such a thing without any modern technology. building another taj mahal today would be difficult.
my 7 votes...not in any order go to:
angkor wat of cambodia
acropolis of greece
pyramid at chichen itza in mexico
machu picchu of peru
opera house in australia
temple in japan
and lastly colosseum of rome.
pyramids and taj mahal are great. but a waste of time to bury
that petra and timbuktu look good as well.
they should make 7 wonders of the modern world and then
statue of liberty in USA
eiffel tower in france
opera house in australia
castle in germany
kremlin in russia
and two others
