nice tutorial... you see where the edge of the fabric rests on her head? basically secure a bobby pin just behind your ear catching some hair and the fabric so it stays in place...and its a bit more descrete that way

good luck and have fun with it

Thank you. But...
So the pin will be visible? Is there any chance for it not to be shown up?
deeme2000
lol...either you have some pins showing (behing your ears, so its not that serious) or you master the art of keeping that thing on your head.

khaviet
I got it now.. thank you very much. biggrin.gif

Lol I am not a girl but still couldn't resist posting. Dupatta on the head is worn only in religious ceremonies or while worshipping. Just rest the dupatta on both the shoulders and let the two ends dangle at the rear of your back that is the typical style. biggthumpup.gif

That's why I was asking where she's going that she needs to cover her head. shrug.gif

It can also be worn like a shawl draped around your arms.

My wedding is comming soon that's why I asked how to wear it on head in a proper way.

Congratulations on your wedding icon_smile.gif Are you marrying an Indian man then?

About the dupatta, people have already said the most common ways to wear it, so I have little to add (not to say I can add much being a man and having never worn one lol). However, a little tip that might help is that if you want to prevent it slipping or pulling (especially if you're pinning it around your head as deeme said), some women sometimes pin it around the shoulder too, though again, you have to make sure it's not noticeable.

Thank you.. I never knew how to deal with pins (on head).. even in movies those actress also did the same?

It varies, but probably to some degree yes. As in, I'd assume they get pinned down so they stay in place during the shot, but obviously many women in movies put it over their head while being filmed, so in those cases they definately won't get pinned to the head.

So when's the big day? Is it a traditional Indian wedding with an Indian man or something? icon_smile.gif
khaviet
It will be in august..

No it is not a traditional Indian wedding i guess.. and yes he is an indian man biggrin.gif

We haven't planned anything yet in details.. It also depends on families from both 2 sides for adults are very complicated in these matters.

But as i said, we will make it simple and fast and our wedding will have a lot of fun I hope biggrin.gif No religious ceremony will be taken place, well... my husband is dead keen on dancing only biggrin.gif There will be just parents, sibling and close friends invited biggthumpup.gif

expressyouself asked me in which occasion I have to wear dupatta on my head ... actually no one asked me to do it, however I want to wear in such way to make me look bride-like icon_smile.gif Otherwise people would be confused (huh confused.gif who is the true bride in this crowd? )

ooh, forget this guy, marry me!!! haha, seriously my dream is to have a fast and fun wedding, unfortunately most traditional Indian ones are slooooow and draining for the couple.

"Adults" are complicated? So you and the guy are young?

ah, so what colour is the bridal gown/sari (whatever you're wearing) going to be? red (or red and white) is the traditional colours an Indian bride would wear, but obviously in your case that might be the colour of choice.
khaviet
LOL "adults" here mean parents grandparents biggrin.gif In their eyes i am still a child icon_sad.gif

I will wear chudidar kameez in a "meeting" day (between his family and mine).

On wedding I will wear saree in blue and white. yes you are right, everything is by my choice.
Bihari
well on the vietnam chat area i read that you are having marriage with a punjabi muslim.

so i think you are having a marriage with a punjabi guy from the punjab state based in pakistan - not india.

in this case are you sure you need dupatta to wear? i think the islamic attire is different

lol, grandparents can be like that biggrin.gif

so what will happen on the meeting day? will the families just meet or is it bigger?

blue and white? very unique colour combination, any reason you decided to choose "non-traditional" colours?

hehe, I don't suppose you'll treat us to pics after the wedding? icon_wink.gif

Due to many reasons I can not post pictures in public place, sorry biggrin.gif

@Bihar: his family moved out from India before 1947... Now he has another nationality (not Indian neither Pakistani). So it is hard to judge i think icon_smile.gif
