Full Version: Speculation: Could Japan have 0wned Australia?

During WW2, had Japan concentrated it's military power on one country alone instead of spreading it thin over many countries including bombing USA, could Japan have dominated Australia's small population/military? Who knows... Australia could have been a very different place today.

moobie
Yeah they could have, easily.
helo4
Only if Australia didn't have any allies.

Their tiny population wouldn't be able to hold out against wave after wave of swarming, zerg-like Japanese.
moobie
and zerg-like japanese have 4.5x your native country's gdp with 1/8th the population, lol.

Meh, the Nazis also could've ruled the world if Russia never joined the war.

^ Russia didn't "join" the war. They were INVADED you dumb fvck. 20 million of them died in one of the greatest patriotic struggles of human history. Russia and Russia alone save the world from Nazism, those 20 million died so cvnts like you can be completely the fvck wrong about history 60 years later.

I've heard that from my history teacher. When he was teaching history on WWII he kept mentioning how many of us wouldn't have been born if it wasn't for the Russians. The reason was like a German solder was capable of taking out 10 American troops without getting hurt. Something about the training and tech was a little bit better than the Americans at that time. At least thats what he said.

I don't think you read what I wrote properly. As in "join", I mean being part of the war. The same way Britain and their respective colonies "joined" the war. Cause technically many countries in Europe were also invaded by Germany, but never "joined" the war and simply surrendered. Now if you spent a little more time reading what I wrote carefully, as short as it was, I also said that if the Russians HADN'T joined the war, the Nazis would've ruled the world. Meaning what? That because the Russians were part of the war, we were able to win. They turned the tides against the Germans long before Britain or the Americans were able to even enter the western front.

I know all well how much the Russians sacrificed. Next time before you start accusing people of not knowing their history, why don't you try reading what they wrote first? You dumb fu-k c_nt.

Japan desperately needed raw materials and resources during World War II. That's the biggest reason why the Japanese took over a huge portion of Southeastern Asia, an area where they have designated as "Southern Resource Area". They also wanted to take over Eastern Siberia, the "Northern Resource Area", if possible, and the Japanese knew that it would be impossible to even attempt it with China blocking the way.

The Japanese considerably outnumber the Australians you nitwit.

I think there's no question the Japanese could have conquered Australia, along with every other country around the western Pacific rim, if America had not stopped them. Had Britain not been engaged in a life-or-death struggle against Hitler at the time, it might well have been a much tougher proposition for the Japanese, but I'd still give it to the Japanese since Britain's ability to project power at that distance, and to replenish it's losses of both men and ships, was much less than America's. Also Britain's navy was large but full of outmoded ships, whereas Japan's was all brand spanking new.

Debatable. The German army was awesome and the German soldier, man for man, outperformed just about everyone else, I think. But the tech? They may have had flashy tanks like the Tiger, and developed sexy technologies like the V1 rocket, but they were still mostly reliant on horse power (not counting trains) whereas the American army was all (mostly?) motorized.

I think Hitler was living in the past, thinking Russia was still as weak as it was back in WW1 and not knowing $hit about America. Also he was immersed in his dreams of 'historic' race war, Germans against Slavs. Otherwise you'd think he'd never have invaded Russia at all, and been completely secure.

I agree. The British, French and Spanish have invaded foreign soil and set up their own colonies around the world. If Japan had bothered to look south for:

A country with the largest land area
The longest coastline
The smallest population
And the least experience in terms of defending herself against foreign invaders

Australia would be it.

Japan has gundams, Australia has boomerangs...no contest.

^ haha yeah japan could STILL counquer australia
submission
Japan would never conquer Australia. Why? cause they are allied with the Americans. So you switch plans decide to focus on Australia. In the end America is still going to be there.
tung2sai
Yeah i don't think anything could have competed against American Industrial might at that time. US had the resources, man power, scientific knowledge from all over the world, and industry to keep fighting.
Kian Seng
If Japan did take Australia, everyone knows it would have just been a matter of time before the Americans would come in and liberate it.
Piso
I wonder what would have happendif america conquered japan... i think a lot would commit suicide for that.
qwe123
Even if Australia wasnt an ally of the Yank, its almost impossible for Japan to conquer. Japan was having troubles in China, invading Australia will stretch the supplies line and eventually it will breaks, like Germany's invasion of the USSR.
