Both the current governments of Cambodia and VN are corrupt. I'm afraid something done under the table between 2 high ranking and highly corrupt individuals is the only way to solve that problem.

Have you ever read Guns, Ganja and Girls before? Tis about Cambodia before the 1997 coup and seriously, the place was messed as messed could be. Apparently Ranariddh's customs officers seized a shipment bound for India because it contained a 9 tonnes (I think) of Cannabis. Big mistake boys, the shipment belonged to Mong Rethy and as a result, Hun Sen's soldiers actually arrested the customs officers for falsifying documents. -_-

Cambodia is enjoying peace and stability as well as economic growth. More and more cambodians in Cambodia are becoming rich years after years due to economic growth and land appreciation. Even the poor farmers or peasants are becoming rich too because of the lands that were given to them by the goverment in the 80's appreciate in value more than anticipated. Of course, there are always some who are getting poorer too. As long as majority of the people are happy... that is a great start. For now, we need to concentrate on rebuilding our country first. Then, when we are strong enough, anything can be possible.
