Why is it illegal...one law muslim law.. insult to muslim bla bla all crap ..

the causes of the muslim law about kissing at public

how can Malaysia proceed to wawasan 2020 ..
how can Malaysia improve..
how foreigners look at Malaysia ..
take away love in Malaysia??

We are all human beings for god's sake. because of the law.. everyone couldn't kiss or hug someone.. .we need love ..we need to express out love too..

ok with those things.. but can kissing and hugging in public be an insult?? please ... that's so old tradition..
kissing and hugging is a normal way of expressing your love to your loved ones..btw kissing and hugging is also considered like an international symbol of saying "i miss you","How are you","Good bye", etc..
the worst thing that happen is that they local tv shows cutted away all the kissing parts.. dam.. that's so uncool..
they say that we dirty our children's mind.. that's not true.. is that you are not open enough or you can say that you are still old fashion..

PLUS...
they say that muslims can't public kiss right?? that's bull$hit..
most of the muslims now public kiss everywhere.. i saw alot of times i din even bother..
it's like a normal thing.. WHY NOT!?? i tot that Malaysia is a nice country with advanced technologies and the only thing that messed it up is muslim laws..

if I can remember correctly, this ban started when one politician saw a couple doing an erotic 10minute french kiss at the bus stop....which angered this old fagged who dream that how nice if he had the girl instead embarassedlaugh.gif

kissing and hugging is still tolerated by many malaysian ....you can still do it in public in moderation. Even though if you do an erotic one....who wants to catch you?

I always do it in KL....couldnt care less of the authorities...there isnt any fyi.....if a religious officer saw you doing that...he cant do anything either. He needs a witness and accompanied by policemen in order to reprimand you.

Know your laws correctly....dun take it for granted and cry like a baby embarassedlaugh.gif

And so what is Asian culture?

Malaysia is not the only Asian country in the whole wide world.

Can't blame about other Asian countries getting influence by western culture is because of the media.

All the time American media has made is way through block buster hits and cinema's.

Even some Asian countries have a democratic government system even Malaysia.

So why should you adopt this type of system for giving freedom to vote?

Isn't it western?

Shouldn't you be communist or under the rule of a taliban?

i just hope you respect my opinion...that's all..eventhough you don't agree with it...

non muslims who only kisses cheeks..okay lah..i still agree...i don't mind.....kissing cheeks is okay for non-muslims,in my opinion lah...but if you open mouth kiss or even french kiss....that's just too much lah...intoleratable.....and drespectful to muslims
shadachi
the problem is not being disrepectful to muslims or what ..is that.. everyone should be given a chance to express their passions of love.. by kissing or hugging.. Why NOt?? We are not doing something which is bad or something right? we are just following the flow in our love mood..lolx.. U say not good or anything right.. then can you swear that next time in the future ..don't even try doing it or just thinking about it.. that's not right.. we are human beings for god's sake.. GOD created us..gave us senses.. gave us life.. and we need to be grateful about it.. and you're just like taking it away from us?? NO way..

To Kiss or not to Kiss that is the question, well why not, it's a normal way of displaying affection, I would rather kiss than punch someone on the nose!!!!!

kissing in public is disgusting even if you arent a muslim. i mean its okay to kiss in the airport when ur sayin gybye/hello whatever. but kissing on bus stops? thats so... gross. eew. i think indoors is best.

In South America where public kissing is common and accepted by society, their economies are not necessarily wawasan 2020 mode. There's nothing to link spontaneous behavior with the country's economic progress. But it does say something about the repression and judgmental attitudes of the leadership on its peoples.

I don't think leaders should mind themselves abt such trifling matters like their citizens' display of affection in public. The next thing they gonna say, don't kiss the hands of your elders in public when greeting?

Leaders should be spending time to improve our social mobility and economic wealth and resources, instead of telling us what to do in private or in public.

I was in Miri many moons ago......one night a group of the "God Squad" was on the prowl....all of them a Hadji....
They were watching 2 chinese, male and female....and 2 Kelebet, male and female......both couples were kissing
on the beach......Anyway...the Chinese guy spotted the God Squad.......and the chinese couple departed.....as they walked away head lights from a Police car flashed and picked up (highlighted) the God Squad hiding by this building........
The Police could not identify the God Squad at this distance over 100 yrds/metre's.......by this building...So 4 Policemen raided the God Squad position...thinking they caught someone doing a crime....and arrested them. Obviously when the truth came out....lots of red faces......this was suppressed from the Borneo Post.

Myself and 4 others watched this debacle and really laughed, to include a Malay Dato!!!!!!!

Now that was real live entertainment!!!!

In my opinion, the reason public kissing is banned in Malaysia is not just because of Islam alone .. I think the govt is worried that one thing would lead to another .. allowing public kissing may lead to ... who knows .. to public sex .. or something that nears public sex!!! I

Imagine a young couple in a public baby-making prelude in a crowded Putra Line commuter plying between Bangsar to Ampang during peak hours .... wouldn't everybody either get horny or get upset! Chances are the members of public would get upset ... even to the non-Muslim members of the Malaysian public!! Imagine how much an old Chinese nyonya or an Indian achi has to agonize as much as the Malay makcik watching public near-sex!!

Besides, I think it is the Asian values that's also not agreeable with public kissing and most Malaysians are still Asians even if they are Muslims..

But even Hindu India gets upset big time when Richard Gear smooched Shilpa Shetty on the neck many months ago... though a Muslim, I thought such reaction wouls normally occur only in a Muslim country .. but Indi

plus public kissing => public sex.. not quite... most ppl wil feel embarrass(dono spell rite or wrong) because sex requires both of the sexes to use their private parts.. u know what i mean? ahem.. and private parts ..are private... u get it?? ppl don just go outside and show ppl their private parts k? but kissing is different.. it's by using mouth and toungue.. which is not a private part of our body.. so .. think about it

yikes this totally a never ending topic..well obviously we all know that the government would never make it legalize even if we beg for it..lol

anyway, I see people doing in everywhere in KL and somehow people around seems ok with it. Eventhough its not legal, I dont think there's anything wrong in expressing some love towards your partner as long you don't over doing it til people around you have to ask you to get a room.

Plus it depends on which location you're currently at or the crowd around you when you want to express your love, if you are in a temple/pasar malam or surrounding by makciks/pakciks..then it wouldnt be appropriate right?

Im not sure about other states in Malaysia but KL people seems to be open minded a lil bit about this issue. Even in Melaka City (where Im staying currently) are kinda ok with it. Maybe this is due to alot of foreigners visiting Melaka.

Just my opinions. icon_smile.gif
shadachi
it's true that the government wouldn't legalize it.. but at least voice your thoughts about it.. We just can't just hide and keep our mouths shut.. we must voice out.. so other ppl would realise that it is not wrong to public kiss.. to change Malaysia ... Change it to a better place for us Malaysians ... = ) it's a dream for alot of Malaysians .. a dream where Malaysia becomes a free country and not with non-logical laws and religion issues.. plus ..racism in this Country makes alot ppl suffer..

man..there's racism everywhere not only Malaysia. Not only us are suffering here.

I believe somehow in every each of one us (deep deep down inside our heart), there's a lil tiny bit of that racist feelings towards others. So everyone is a lil bit of racist in some way when they realizing it or not. What do u think?

Just my opinions icon_smile.gif

True...everyone sure has a lil bit of racism in ourselves.. that's for sure.. there is no perfect humans.. but Malaysia's law and restrictions are too racist d...Malays that don't do well in their studies can go in Universities easily but other races that study so hard couldn't go in .. that's like wasting slots in uni for those who are unwanted.. and most of the things are all priority given to Malays .. is it Fair?? May 13 event in Malaysia ...view it.. that's realy called racism..

In 2004, during the UMNO general assembly Badruddin Amiruldin , the current deputy permanent chairman, waved a book on May 13 during his speech and stated "No other race has the right to question our privileges, our religion and our leader". He also stated that doing so would be similar to "stirring up a hornet's nest".

Think what if a Chinese or Indian has taken over Malaysia.. how would Malaysia be?? I bet it will be advanced than now.. compare it with Singapore and India... Malaysia is sooo behind them... Why not give other races the chances to become president?? WHY so racist??

Fellas,

To sum it up, take a close look at Singapore where I am. There is not a single restriction here. U can do anything you want. Do you see public sex here??? Those who assume and fear of public sex are crazy to come up with that idea in the first place.

When you do not restrict what people can do and cannot do, people will re-think before they do anything. But if you restrict people from doing it, people would obviously rebel.

Banning public kisses is not a sign of Racism...it's a sign of Puritanism.

This going back to a less permissive society is not unheard of in history. It happens when the leaders feel unsure of their power and their hold over the people, so they start getting into your private lives and if they succeed in controlling your private behavior, they succeed in controlling their power over you.

I'm all for adjustments to global changes .. as long as these changes are positive and can result in an improvement to the quality of my life .. but I don't see how the public exchange of saliva will in anyway contribute to a global improvement in the quality of life for citizens of the world.

Still ... I respect the rights of certain countries to practice public kissing culture in their societies ... as long as they don't try to 'globalize' this culture and expect me to accept and adjust to this culture .. in Malaysia and many Asian countries, regardless of religion, public kissing is considered indecent and socially ofensive just as wearing purdah is considered indecent and ofensive in 'liberal' and 'open' western societies....

But I have seen kids publicly French-kiss in commuter trains and at shopping centers in KL.... I would not approve of it but I would not at the same time try to shut them off... it would be none of my business ... in another KL (say Kuala Langat or Kuala Lipis instead of Kuala Lumpur ... the kids would have been pulverized, figuratively speaking, though...)

Not really a stupid reply ... more likely a rude and crude response .. but he does have points ... only that he doesn't know how to quite say them..

Shadachi .. I myself can't quite figure out how public kissing is related to Wawasan 2020, technological advancements and educational advancements. True, WW2020 is about Malaysia being fully developed and advanced. You think public kissing make us Malaysians more technologically advanced and developed? Is public kissing the only way to express love and affection .. can't you do your kissing privately with your loved one and still get the message across to her?? Why do you want the public to see you kiss?

Yes, kissing may be a beautiful experience .. but should the public be forced to see you do it?

There are many things that the public does not want you to do in front of it ... like pissing, crapping, masturbating, exposing your genitalia, etc.

Even the US and Western Europe find certain things are offensive publicly ... public nudity except at certain designated places, genital exposure, female tit exposure although she can expose 99% of her boob, etc. Remember Janet Jackson? All she did was to show off her t!t$ .. but the whole America went "Booooobsss!!!

Personally I think we're gonna waste a lot of energy (and time which we could've spent on kissing : P) if we try going against rules like this.

Why not just obey it and once you enter a room, make out with your spouse/partner as much as you want? Besides, there are a lot of rooms here in Malaysia.

Kissing many 'risks meningitis'
Teen couples
Kissing one person was not linked to increased risk
Intimate kissing of many different partners can quadruple a teenager's risk of meningitis, a study has found.

Kissing with tongues enables the potentially deadly meningococcal bacteria to pass between partners.

The Australian team which carried out the British Medical Journal study of 144 teenagers defined multiple partners as between two and seven in two weeks.

Lead researcher Robert Booy said teenagers should change their behaviour - but accepted most would not.

I don't expect teenagers to become nuns and monks for the duration of their university career, but I would encourage them to be aware of the symptoms
Linda Glennie, Meningitis Research Foundation

Meningococcal disease is a life threatening condition.

Incidence tends to peak in early childhood and in adolescence.

It can cause meningitis, an inflammation of the brain lining, or meninges, and septicaemia, which is the blood poisoning form of the disease.

The incidence and fatality rate among teenagers in England and the United States rose dramatically during the 1990s.

The introduction of the meningitis C vaccine in the UK in late 1999 - which is given to both babies and teenagers - has helped numbers drop but other forms of the infection remain a major problem.

It is known that around one in 10 teens carry meningococcal bacteria.

Student risk

The researchers questioned 144 teenagers aged 15 to 19 diagnosed with meningitis at English hospitals.

Each was then compared with another teenager of the same age from their GP's list.

The research team asked about factors which might increase or decrease the teenagers' risk of meningitis.

SOME COMMON SYMPTOMS
High temperature, fever, possibly with cold hands and feet
Vomiting, sometimes diarrhoea
Severe headache
Joint and muscle pains, possible stomach cramps
Neck stiffness
Dislike of bright lights, disorientation

Blood samples and nose and throat swabs were also taken.

In addition to kissing multiple partners, a history of preceding illness, and being a student were linked to an increased risk of disease, while attendance at a religious event was linked to a lower risk.

Other factors can increase someone's risk of becoming ill if they are exposed to the bacteria, the researchers found.

Having had the Epstein-Barr virus - itself called the 'kissing disease' - is a factor, as is having an upper respiratory tract infection. Being a student also appeared to increase risk.

But attending religious services did not.

The researchers suggest these last two factors could be 'markers' of behaviour, indicating whether they are more likely to have multiple kissing partners and be attending parties, where the meningococcal bacteria can also be passed on by smokers' coughing.

Being born prematurely was also a risk - appearing to affect immunity to infection even 15 to 20 years later.

Teenagers 'not impervious'

Professor Robert Booy, co-director of the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance at the Children's Hospital Westmead, Sydney, led the study.

He said: "We all carry bacteria in out throats, and some of us will carry the meningococcal bacteria.

"They don't exist very well outside of the body. But if it can pass in saliva, from one person to the next, then it passes very easily."

He said the findings might make teenagers think.

"They tend to think they are impervious and will live forever. But if the message is this is something that could kill them in three days, it's a little more adjacent."

Professor Booy said he accepted that teenagers would continue to behave as they always had.

But he added: "I think they should change their behaviour. We found the risk for those without a partner and those with one was the same.

"The message to people who snog two partners is that they've probably also snogged two people, so you are multiplying your risk."

Linda Glennie, head of research at the Meningitis Research Foundation, which funded the study, said: "I don't expect teenagers to become nuns and monks for the duration of their university career, but I would encourage them to be aware of the symptoms."

Philip Kirby, chief executive of the Meningitis Trust added: "This research helps to highlight why students are the second most 'at risk' group for meningococcal disease.

"In the general population about 10% of people carry the meningococcal bacteria in the back of their throats, but in the student age group we know that this can increase to 30% due to their increased social interaction.

"The study reinforces the need for continued awareness amongst 15 to19-year-olds."

A Department of Health spokeswoman said: "Our advice already highlights kissing as a risk factor for meningitis.

"We keep all new research under review and always amend our advice if necessary."
