"The Kingdom of Laos" or "Lao Peoples Democratic Republic" which sounds better?

doesn't it depend on what you're talking about?
if you're refering to the current country of laos and the extent of it's borders, it's laos PDR
if you're talking about lanxang, then it's the kingdom of laos
if you're talking about the entire history of the country and its people, you'd probably be better off just calling it laos.
or do you mean something deeper when you say the word 'sounds'?

yeah, it should be land of a million elephants since that
is what Lanxang means

Lanxang=a million elephants
or just the "a million elephants part"

maybe Kingdom of Lao, or the Lao Kingdom,
since the "s" is suppose to be silent, "French"
its Lao PDR, not Laos PDR, example
Million Elephant, Maybe Lao has few hundred Elephant left, or a thousand
should change the name to "PonXang"

I don't think it fits, because it is the past and only few thousand elephants probably still left in Laos.
