SIngapore Idol 1st ever Asian Idol!!!

tv Reality Talent Search Show

A dark horse in the singing competition, the 26-year-old winner of the second season of Singapore Idol beat five other contestants, including favourites Mike Mohede, 24, from Indonesia, and Jaclyn Victor, 29, from Malaysia.

The other contestants were India's Abhijeet Sawant, 26, Philippines' Mau Marcelo, 27, and Vietnam's Phuong Vy, 20.

All six contestants sang two songs each on the performance show last Saturday night.

Hady lost his composure when his name was announced as the winner just after midnight at the end of a two-hour-long results show telecast on Channel 5.

The Singaporean singer dropped to his knees and covered his face with his hands for a full minute before being hoisted up by his fellow contestants.

To a 5,000-strong live audience at Jakarta's Mega Glodok Kemayoran convention hall and millions more television viewers around Asia, Hady sang-U2's Beautiful Day and Berserah (Surrender), originally sung by first. Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah, last Saturday.

Hady racked up the highest votes via SMS voting.

Viewers could vote as many times as they wanted - but they had to vote for two contestants.

This ruling ensured a level playing field for countries with smaller populations.

Hady sent an SMS to The Straits Times soon after his win.

It said: "I'd like to thank everyone and my fans for voting for me. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am now. I love you... see you all back in Singapore!"

His win caught many by surprise. Singapore Idol judge Ken Lim, who was also on the judging panel for Asian Idol, gave him a 50-50 chance at best before the competition.

He told The Straits Times in an SMS after the results were announced: "I have been waiting for a long time to prove that Singapore should be proud of its home-grown talents, and this win has finally made Singapore Asia's best."

Hady's friends were also shocked.

"I am shocked but happy for him. It was unexpected as he was up against strong competition," said his friend of eight years Shahfii Ali. The -28-year-old is from hip-hop group Triple Noize and has performed with Hady since the late 1990s in the independent hip-hop and R&B scene.

^ Coz they don't have Idol show or purchase Idol show.

PS: Asian Idol will be held on November 2007 in Indonesia. The contestants should be the latest winner from this year. So Malaysian Idol Jac will not compete. Indonesia will have the grand final for season 4 next week. Hopes Rini win coz she's fabulous a singer and shud compete in Asian Idol! rockon.gif

Big Brother is a reality television show where, in each series, a group of people live together in the Big Brother House, isolated from the outside world but continuously watched by television cameras. Each series lasts for around three months, and there are usually fewer than 16 participants. The housemates try to win a cash prize by avoiding periodic evictions from the house.

StarStruck is the first reality-based talent search for teenagers on Philippine television. The program, which first aired on GMA Network in 2003, was successful, being hailed by critics as the most phenomenal show of 2003. The show's alumni are among the most popular teen actors in the Philippines today.

The program is famous for its tagline, Dream, Believe, Survive.

The reality-based teen actor search StarStruck has the makings of the typical reality show contest: unknown contestants, insulting judges, endless challenges, and all the hype and drama on TV.

That's A Star: Creating a new breed of entertainment celebrities. That's A Star is the biggest regular online variety entertainment reality show to hit the internet.

Unlike other reality shows, our show do not have just one winner. What we offer is a chance to have a career in entertainment. Those who pass the auditions will be featured in the show for a maximum of 3 times, to test their popularity. After that, they get a job as a celebrity entertainer. Some of them will only be featured or
once or twice in the show, depending on their popularity and the audience's acceptance. Their duration in the show will greatly depend on their fans. Those who continue to improve their skills and increase their fan base will ensure a long career in show business. Ultimately, this is how we decide who will have movies, tv shows, commercial ads, music albums, concerts etc.

Err...Akademi Fantasia is differerent franchise than Idol shows. AF is from Mexico. Indonesia also had Akademi Fantasi Indosiar (AFI) but it only lasted for 3 seasons coz it turned out to a sob story contest. The winner of AFI 2 happened to perform with Thai winner in Malaysia, I recall.

"Little Dreamers" competition for children aged 6 to 10. On July 6, 2008, twelve children were chosen to become the Academy's resident Little Scholars. In this end, a new puppet named Billilit (portmanteau of "Billy" and bulilit or kid) joins the show as semi-host and Billy's sidekick on Übertube as far as any topic regarding this side competition is concerned.

The Little Dreamers competition continued for several weekends after the season finale of the second season for the "adults" on September 13 and 14, 2008. The Little Dreamers took part on the said season finale despite this. The competition ended on October 5, 2008 at the Dolphy Theatre of the ABS-CBN building.

The Little Dreamers competition was started on July 6, 2008, for children who are six to ten years old. Twelve children were chosen to compete in this side competition, taking place within the duration of this season. Understandably, they do not stay at the Academy due to regular schooling on weekdays, entering it during weekends to have voice lessons from the Voice Mentors.

Project Runway Philippines is a Philippine adaptation of Project Runway. This reality television series, which aims to find "the next big Filipino fashion designer," is produced by Solar Entertainment Corporation and Unitel Productions. It premiered on July 30, 2008 on cable through ETC Entertainment Central and on free TV through SBN 21. The show is hosted by model and actress Teresa Herrera, with fashion designer and faculty member of School of Fashion and the Arts Jojie Lloren serving as mentor. Filipino top model and lifestyle feature writer Apples Aberin-Sahdwani and fashion designer Rajo Laurel complete the judging panel. The winner received P500,000 (roughly US$11,000) in cash, a start-up business package, an editorial spread in Mega magazine, and an opportunity to show their collection in Philippine Fashion Week. The final three designers, as revealed in the Finale episode, would get to design a clothing line to be sold exclusively in SM Makati and SM Ortigas, while the winner would display his collection in SM Makati. The Final Runway show was held on October 23, 2008, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, with New York-based handbag and accessories designer Rafé Totengco and notable shoe designer Cesar Gaupo as guest judges. Aries Lagat of Iligan City was declared the winner, beating Philipp Tampus of Lapu-Lapu City and Veejay Floresca of Makati City. ETC has announced the auditions for the program's second season.

NCIS Spinoff Casts CSI Alumna,

Two Others
The ensemble for CBS' planned NCIS spinoff continues to flesh

out. Not long after it was reported that Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J are circling two lead roles, three

other characters have been cast.
Louise Lombard, who played CSI'sSofia Curtis for three seasons,

has landed what is considered the series' female lead: Clara, a former major in the military police turned

investigator.
The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Peter Cambor (Notes from the Underbelly) will play Nate, a

quick-witted operational psychologist.
Just asNCISwas born of a JAG episode, this latest offshoot will

kick off as an episode of NCIS.

The ladies still love cool James. He has scored quite a few film roles I gather, but the only one that comes to mind right now is Mr Jones in Charlie's Angels.

That could boost an interest in the local fashion scene.
Hmm... just now I am thinking of Lee Lin Chin, the SBS news presenter who grew up in Singapore, and she is famous for her bold and somewhat eccentric fashion style.

That link is not opening for me, but yeah she is quite a character and apart from her news/current affairs work she hosted a wacky TV show called Fashionista.
