All the old temples of Vientiane face east and there flanks are aligned with the mekong. But Wat Sisaket is the only temple that faces Bangkok,Thailand.Why does the temple faces bangkok you asked? In mid day the sun lights gets the hotest so the opening of the door has to face the sunset and sunrise. These are only alittle explaination of minipulating the fire element for the city. Our body contains wind, water, fire, and earth. If these elements are balance our life will be more properous and body more healthier. The body effects the mind and the mind effects the body. When the body is weak the mind becomes weak. When the mind becomes weak we make bad decision. When we make bad choices our lives goes down hill. When a king makes bad choices the kingdom fall.

The temple of Sisaket must have not been built during the time of king Setthatirath. If it is then it must have been reconstructed .

I have no idea why they chose that number. I do know why the backbone of lanxang use the number 3-3-3 and when you add them up it will becomes 9-9-9. Lets say that in lao Sam - Sam- Sam pen Gao - Gao - Gao . Once the next ruler gets this then money will start to flow in to laos.

But after 1827, the royal court of Bangkok ordered the practice to stop and all Lao had to pay homage to Bangkok.
"The central decorative motif of the candelabra is a group of fifteen vertical rods with a set of seven half-rods surmonted with a half-prasat on each side. The motif represents the seven principle Lao polities enumerated by Archbishop Pallegoix: "Muang-Lom or Loum, Muang-Nan, Muang Vieng Tian, Muang Louang Pho-Bang, Muang Phouenne, Muang Phle, Muang Meung Maie". Only the central stem is complete, however, for it represents teh strength and the invincibility of the Lao country when united"(Archaimbault(1980),pp,120,125-126,146,152,159,173).
Also the Nagas are more than fancy decorations at Lao temples. History tells us that "Nagas are the symbol of Laos and source of its name, Si Sattanakhanahut, meaning land of nagas. The nagas' heads, with their jaggedly torn crests, and the naga's backs, bristling with flames, signified Lao resistance. Well, from what i know, in buddhism, the direction west associated with death. so, many buddhist temples in india face east.. because east is where the sun rise.. But, if bangkok located in the west, then why did the temple face west??? good question..

i also don't understand why Angkor Wat of cambodia also face west....???
