I've been to panama.

i can tell you that 95% of so of panamanian people are of east Indian descent. ( i was very surprised)

plus a lot of Hispanic people migrated from Asia.

A lot of them are mixed now so they look a bit different than just straight Asian though.

dont you mean american-indian descent? because the majority of the ppl in panama are a mix between white spanish and american-indian, not east indian from india. and if you think they look some what "asian" that is because american-indians are genetically related to east asians. the others in panama are white, black, pure american-indian and mixed. but the east indian population (or west indian) is very small, and is not 95%.

btw, hispanic people did not migrate from asia, they are either pure spaniard, pure american indian, or a mix between the two. many are mixed with afro-caribbean blood as well.

actually, no, i'm from america, that's how i know this. most americans know this about south and central american countries. i'm not trying to prove you wrong just for fun, if that's what you're implying.

many native americans actually do resemble east indians, since not all of them have small east asian-like eyes. many southern spaniards, as well as latinos resemble indians too. but the pic of the guy you posted, in my opinion, looks more latino than indian. but most indians and latinos can tell the difference between an south asian and a latino.

there may be some east indians in panama, but it's definitely NOT 95%, and no where near that number. while i have not been to panama, i have been to other central american countries, and caribbean countries and am aware of their diverse ethnic makeup. in fact many european and south/central american countries (which i have visited) near or south of the equator have ppl that RESEMBLE east indians, but it ends there...most of them are not indian.

just because these ppl have "east indian" features, like long noses, big eyes, brown skin, black hair, etc, does not make them indian.

I am closer to these countries than you are,
About 15 minutes flight and I'll be in one of these countries.
I also looked on net since a long time ago and learnt that Panamanians
are actually Latino, but i still call them Indians, also i learnt it in high school (caribbean history/geography/social studies). Even though i know full well that they are not Indians. But i call them east Indians, because that is what they appear like to me hahaha- if you say i can't call them east Indians...well i like thinking of them as indians- i got panamians friends who got no problem in me calling them east indians- because as a matter of fact they get mistaken for east indians all the time.

I learnt about all this in school since i went to high school in west indies, so i got as much knowledge on them as you do, but i still call them east indians...caz that is what they look like to me.
