from all the japanese ive talked to, ive found that the ones who are transplants from Japan stick together but welcome anyone who is interested in their culture while the ones born in the west are usually detached from Japan and Asian people in general. I wouldn't knock the natives.

There are no official religion in Japan, but if Japanese are believer then they are most likely buddist. Shinto is not true religion btw, it's like the shamanism that became part of way of life.

As I said on other post Christianity is only growing religion in Japan, this is documented in most Christain news. I am Catholic but my grand parents are buddist.

Traditionally Koreans are devoted local shamanist; after wide spread of buddhaism during fuedal (3 kingdoms period) to medieval era; many Koreans became buddhist. Today almost 50% of believers are buddhist and 40% are Christians (Catholic + others), and again Christianity only growing religion in Korea as well.

I've spoken with a few of my Japanese coworkers about this (in the most polite and unassuming way possible no less). And they all more or less say one thing: "Japan is a defeated nation" basically they're a nation without a sense of national pride. In their pre-modern days they were a shadow of China, and in the postwar era, they are the shattered, vanquished, occupied servant of the US. Only in the brief period after the Meiji Reformation and before 1945 did Japan have any real national pride.

So basically, Japan is a nation with it's d1ck cut off. And that's actually the main complaint of the right wing nationalists who want Japan to remilitarize and shrug off the American yolk which is getting weaker as the US begins to wane and the power of China waxes.

Personally, I would not be against any remilitarization of Japan if it also includes the breaking of their unspoken vow of fealty to the US. And ultimately I think that the breaking of fealty with be an inevitable consequence of remilitarization (basically Japan getting it's balls back). And I don't think it'll be a threat to China either. No one in Japan is crazy enough to actually believe that Japan is China match when both are at their potential.

Liberating Japan and South Korea will be necessary and key steps to the realization of East Asia as the center of the world. And I think we all know that Japan cannot free itself, it needs China's support (under the table of course) to break from the US.

All this will eventually happen.

The onus falls upon China to do some tricky diplomacy to liberate its Asian neighbors from this pseudo-colonialism that still plagues Asia.

The Japanese do have their own culture you know and anything they bring in from the outside is Nihonized and you would recognize a bit of it from the original country, but it's definitely Japanese.
