Every other film releasing in Bollywood today is a direct lift of a Hollywood film. The recently released Partner is also a direct lift of the Hollywood blockbuster 'Hitch'. Sony Entertainment and Overbrook entertainment (Will Smith's production house) are contemplating on suing the Partner producers with a 30 million dollar lawsuit. They are likely to approach UK court as Partner's co-producers K Sera Sera and Ero International are registered entities in UK.

Sony Pictures is aggressively planning to enter Bollywood and make Hindi films. It is also likely to remake it's Hollywood blockbusters with changing the storyline and treatment to suit the Indian sensibilities. Partner film stood as one of the top 10 grossers in UK in it's first week of release. With Hindi film market getting such a wide reach and vast collections, the Hollywood production houses are eyeing for a share in the pie of all blockbusters that are inspired by their films.

So far no international company sued any Indian film production house of plagiarizing. Partner film could be the first. The other international production houses like Walt Disney and Viacom are also seriously looking at entering into Indian markets.
