I wish this guy didn't use the word 'Myth' to describe Krishna, but everything else looks good.

The Krishna and Christian Jesus Parallels

The parallels (similarities) of the Hindu Krishna Myth to the Christian Jesus myth are strong evidence that Christianity stole/borrowed elements of the older myth.

In comparing the Krishna and Jesus myths, some of the references of the Jesus myth are stories found in the so-called Apocryphal Gospels, the early Christian writings which were not accepted for the Christian canon, which includes the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, the Acts, and other letters.

Special note will be made of the Apocryphal Gospel references.

The Apocryphal Gospel myths are included because they give additional mythological information not found in the Canonic Gospels.

Because we are interested in the total Jesus myth, this additional information is included.

All religions are kinda the same, you have to die to find out the truth.

Not really, most encourage certain values but I wouldn't ever say Christianity or Islam are the same (or really similar) to Hinduism and Buddhism

Well with Hinduism and Buddhism, wouldnt it depend on what type of those religions you follow? For example, not all Hindus worship a multitude of gods. Some believe in one God, while others believe in many, and others just believe in no concept of god. Buddhism is just a philosophy, right? Depending on which scriptures you read, some dont talk about reincarnation, some do, etc.

As far as Christianity, Ive read that there are similarities to Jesus and Mithras, Osirus/Dionsys, etc. Some Christians say that those sources are late after Christianity, but I dont know. All I know is that from my Islamic standpoint, the gospels dont speak of Jesus as a god head, especially due to his actions and sayings. The rest of it, like Pauls letters, I really cant say much, but he does reject several jewish traditions.

No I mean as in going to heaven/hell, being reincarnated, not sure about what happens in islam but I hear theres a judgment day.

You have to die to find out the truth but you cant do anything when you die or prove anything exists after death to the living. Its also your belief in of an after lifed & stuff influenced on you by other people & your choices.

I just find religion to be a pain to argue about. beerchug.gif

Every religion has variants that is true, I meant when Abrahamic religions are compared to Dharmic.

Well, that's one similarity amongst all religions but also amongst all humanity, we're still ignorant about the afterlife.

A bit thick to be blaming one religion in particular !
And as said before, religions are indeed quite similar ... why ? because they all have similar motives in their teachings : morals.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that stories taught to bear those ethics are similar in respect since they're destined to similar conclusions ! The first Christians were Jews ! Alexander the great travelled to India and influenced the first representation of Buddha in the way he is draped ! It's likely they influenced him as well ! Why go around pointing fingers ??? Religions, superstitions, beliefs about outside forces have existed ever since humans were given the ability to reason ! Why play the blame game saying this religion stole this from this religion ! And shouldn't you guys be glad that these religions have similarities ? Isn't that what religion is about ? Us being united under similar morals ???
Jackpot ! Why point fingers ???
Geeez !!!!!!!!! You guys are sorely annoying me w/ your religious debates trying to blame one another for all the woes of the earth and dissing each other's faith, calling some traitors, others frauds, and pigeonholing whole religions as extremists or lunatics !
madgo.gif
Can't you guys see what's happening ? Weren't the crusades and the holocaust enough for you guys to realize ???

I actually agree with you lobsterwoman, most people argue about religions without even getting to the meaning or purpose of the religion.

Hinduism is particularly forgiving to things like these, so there's no need to fuss.

What religion (if any) do you follow?
