Pakistan warns against India on nukes

PAKISTAN has warned against any resumption of nuclear testing by archrival India, suggesting that Australian plans to sell uranium to New Delhi could start a nuclear arms race in South Asia.
India's government says a proposed cooperation pact with the US on civilian nuclear power generation will not constrain its weapons program, including the right to conduct future nuclear tests.
“This should be a source of concern not just to Pakistan, but to the international community as well,” said Tasnim Aslam, spokeswoman for Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Resumption of nuclear tests by India would create a serious situation obliging Pakistan to review its position and to take action appropriate and consistent with our supreme national interest,” Ms Aslam said.
Ms Aslam also expressed alarm at Australian plans to sell uranium to New Delhi, and suggested that Pakistan could expand its own nuclear arsenal in response to any strengthened Indian capability.
