i've moved around a lot in canada. lived in toronto too, and now my parents have just relocated in toronto not long ago. and i am going to see them this Christmas.

there are many asians here, but most of them are here for universities, so the majorities are fobs. and i don't seem to be connected to them in many ways... i'm sure some of you can understand

Yeah, I never quite understood that. Why are there so many HK'ers and Koreans going to school abroad. I swear to god man, this one time I ended up having to do a group project and everyone was from HK but me. All they did was speak in cantonese to each at every single meeting, I swear I just wanted to bang my head over a table. But that's behind me now.

I feel your pain. I live in Ottawa and it's isolating here too. But I have a good job here so I must stay.

Most asians in my city are fobs too and I have a hard time connecting with them as well.

For real! They usually hang out with their other fellow countrymen.

Yep. Even though I can still speak Chinese, I still can't connect with Chinese fobs. Just nothing to talk about. Nothing really to glue us together. On the other hand, I don't really feel like I belong with white people either. They're really nice and polite and everything but its hard to feel that warm bond.

I'm not sure where I fit in. But I have my career to focus on for now. I have a good job so I'm just gonna do this for now. But I'm kinda scared to think about the long term and what I'm gonna do.

Asians in Toronto and Vancouver--pretty much the eastern to pacific coasts--have much more interactions with other asians, since there are so much diversity and asians who were raised there.

Yeh I notice that too. However, I think you need to have grown up in those places to build up a social network with them. It's kinda too late for me. I'm done with school and I'm in the working world now.

I'm from Halifax. I miss it sometimes. But don't you just hate how all the stores are closed on Sundays and they'll close early anyway during the week? Is the seafood still really cheap over there? The winters were pretty bad though.

Toronto may be very diverse but its also very segregated. The different groups pretty much keep to each other.

My brothers always got into fights with other schools or races. It was pretty crazy.

Winter hasn't been as bad as like 3-4 years ago. I find winter is actually becoming more mild, and our summer is starting later.
