I am currently watching this series online. This is like my first time ever watching a Korean Drama, it is not too bad. The serie is in Korean and and a little bit in Vietnamese with English Sub.

Alright I admit to it I do watch Chinese Series. A few weeks ago I watched Shanghai Bund from China TV. I thought it was awesome. You should check that series out.

My mom is watching this drama. She says its pretty good. And no, its not what you guys think, it really is sincere in the way it tries to portray her life in Vietnam and Korea.

if they don't show scene of Korean and Vietnamese men eating dogs and beating up their wives then its not sincere...

this is a social life and family drama...I mean C'MON!!!!!!!!

yay episode 18 is out

I watched esp1 to 8 but stopped, it pretty good compare to all others one that I partially watched. These Korean writer are talented (even thought the Korean actor can't really speak Vietnamese) there are actually substance this time.

I also watched to esp 8. So far, I'm not too fond of this movie. Here are my reasons why:

1 - story is somewhat cliche
2 - acting is bleh
3 - they are not depicting Vietnamese women as last resorting bribes; they are depicting Vietnamese women as mistresses for ugly, jobless, or sick Korean men.
4 - the main character (Jin Joo) doesn't act anything like a Vietnamese women. She comes off many times being needy and desperate for Jun Woo, and the part when she was about to leave for Vietnam she should have just left. Instead she ran back asking to be Jun Woo's b!tch, when he already promised her that he'll find her father anyway. Why the fu-k go back? Take care of his dirty @$$? For what benefit? Stupid, that's not the mentality of a Vietnamese women. This movie is giving Korean men false ideas about Vietnamese women. They are not mistresses!
5 - I know exactly how Jun Woo feels so far about this b!tch Jin Joo. Get off his @$$! He doesn't want you. And the fact that she begged his parents for her to stay was quite pathetic. Shouldnt she have begged him instead? He obviously doesn't want this b!tch, yet she keeps wanting to suck his c@ck and be his b!tch. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Jin Joo's betrayal of a Vietnamese women sickens me.

It draw a few laughs out of me because it was ludicrous.
The script did reveal an egoistic side of a writer and a degree of condescending attitude toward Vietnamese.

They had korean movie kinda like this series but it called Hanoi Bride, the girl in here have betta acting.

The real problem is not the acting, it's how they are depicting Vietnamese women. They are not b!tches or mistresses. Jin Joo's character is utterly annoying. She tries too hard to win this sick Korean guy's heart, who have made clear many times he dosen't love this b!tch. Yet, she continues to be his b!tch. Why? What are they trying to say about Vietnamese women, other than they are courgeous, hard-working and loyal? That they make good brides *cough*b!tches*cough* for ugly, unemployed or sick Korean men? This movie is fu-ked up. Anyone else agree with me?

I can't believe they released this after how bad Hanoi bride was... the movie and this series is a total disappointment. the acting and the story line is ( as tofu put it) blah...

although if anyone is interested in this series it on veoh and lytpika has it uploaded..

This was weird. The Vietnamese part of the drama plays in Ho-Chi-Minh City where Jin Joo lives with her mother, but I can see clearly that it was shot in Hanoi and hear it clearly from the accent.

BTW, the Vietnamese actress Nhu Quynh (Jin Joo's mother) even made it to a prize at the KBS Awards for her outstanding performance. I'm so proud

Another thing, this drama showed clearly the ignorance and looking-down-attitude of Korea towards Vietnam. Koreans tried to show off their advancement in every aspect. How comes that a city girl like Jin Joo doesnt know how to go shop in a supermarket? In the drama she was displayed like a excited ape that experienced it for the first time. It was annoying and I feel kind of offended.
