Full Version: What is your Filipino nickname?
Asia Finest Discussion Forum > Asian Culture > Filipino Chat

Most of us Pinoys have a nickname that close friends or family members would call us by, but some of us who move abroad usually drop their nicknames or don't use it in public for fear of getting teased.
I've seen some young adults in the US get mad at visiting family members when they're addressed in their family nicknames out in public or in front of non-Filipinos.
So what is your Filipino nickname? Do you use it in public when not in the Philippines?

Thank God I don't have one. Mainly because that tradition was abandoned once my parents moved here in Texas before I was born, however my cousins have nicknames, a lot of them range from Dado to Jet.

kikay

looked it up here http://community.livejournal.com/tagalog/77645.html.

"Refers to individuals who carry a brush, hand wash, moisturizer, lip-gloss and various other facial enhancements in a case (aptly called a kikay kit) inside her bag. Recent inspections
of various backpacks have led to the conclusion it is not a purely female trait. This breed cannot resist checking themselves out on mirrors, glass windows, bread knives, sidewalk puddles and plastic-covered notebooks."

it does suit the way you look.
