There seems to be either white or japanese anime characters, and that's all I usually see.

But I was wondering whether there are any Vietnamese/other anime characters out there. Here they are:

Carl from Blood +

and

Coquelicot from Sakura Wars

Yep, both are Vietnamese alright. You can check on Wiki.

So just post any anime characters background that are found pretty rare. Or if your Hmong, Korean, Mexican, etc. then look for any characters that is according to your ethnicity.

PLEASE AVOID ANY DEBATE OR ARGUMENTS. THIS THREAD IS NOT MADE FOR THAT PURPOSE.

I read a crapload of comics but I never really liked the korean manhwa that much.

Something about their art style and concepts just make it look like a poor man's manga.

I liked a few series here and there, but I mostly just read the korean translated japanese manga.

here are the few series that I liked:

Yul Hyul Gang Ho is tite because they're on some wuxia $hit, plus the artwork is pretty decent. I stopped reading it though because they come out with a new book every 3 months so I keep forgetting the story. I'm just gonna wait until they finish the entire series and read it start to finish.

The Hiphop is about b-boys and breaking, so it was also interesting.

other than these two series, I haven't come across any stand-out korean manhwas.

I personally find Manhwa art/style to be more realistic (generally speaking of course) but to each his own.
Hellsing by Kohta Hirano is one of the best Manga's I've read, but thats going off-topic :X

edit: more pics

korea has definitely stepped it up art wise...like all those magna carta illustrations are done by a kroean guy.

I still find the manhwas lackluster story and plot wise.

have you read all these series? are they any good? which would be your top choice?
retardsrox
O_o i've never read a manhwa before... any recommendations?

EDIT: i've read ragnarok before but i did not like the storyline so i stopped, hey is there any manhwa that they've turned into an animation?

Blade of the Phantom Mask (Shin Angyo Onshi) is a good one, its complete with 17 volumes and there is a anime/movie made in 04 and made it to US via "ADV films"

Chrono Code is a bit confusing

QUOTE
"When the promotional material for the second volume of a manga series begins, "Wondering just what the heck is going on?" you know you're in trouble. It's a shame that the first volume of Chrono Code plunges readers into such confusion, because it has real potential. Ji-Soo Chung is an orphaned schoolgirl in search of her missing younger brother in Seoul, Korea, in 1994. But in the 23rd century she may be Yun-hee, a "chronoid" with time-traveling capabilities and a colleague of the swash-buckling Blade (who, in 1994, is Ji-Soo's Russian teacher, Professor Nicolai).

Blade's search for Yun-hee, who is apparently a powerful time traveler, overlaps with his pursuit of Doctor Joseph, another chronoid who has changed the confidential code for a satellite called Riverside that has the power to stop an apocalyptic 23rd-century war.

It's fair to say that Chrono Code is suffering from an overabundance of plot and a dearth of background. But its art is lovely, combining fight scenes with dreamy splash pages, and the story is intriguing, despite a sometimes clunky translation. Manga fans who have the patience to follow the meandering plot should enjoy what they find. (Aug.)

ID_entity I like but Im a pretty heavy gamer so..... MMO gamers would probably like it.

Rebirth by Kangwoo Lee is really good its 20 volumes+

Utopia's avenger only has two volumes but I like it modern spin-off of Hong Gil-Dong, great art

Phantom is only two volumes so far and is Mechs so..... (if you like Mechs you'll probably like it)

NOW/Chung Rhang are heavy action oriented with the former being slightly more humorus, I like the art

I would go to a local bookstore and just browse though what you like, I don't know what you guys like.

edit: Zero beginning of the Coffin is good, if a little perverted (depends on your standards)

NOW is a squel to Chung Rhang, you can still read NOW but you'll probably find a number of WTFs

"Though initially episodic in nature, it becomes apparent that Munsu's travels are not random as the series progresses. In truth, Munsu is searching for the man responsible for assassinating his best friend, the king of Jushin, an act that lead to the fall of the country.

But as Munsu grows closer to reaching his goal, he also encounters old friends and comrades from his past, some who have since switched their allegiance to his enemy. Through them, it is revealed that Munsu was not always an angyo onshi and is himself partly responsible for the king's death and subsequent fall of Jushin.

In addition to the overarching plotline, the series also uses the exploits of Munsu and his companions to retell various Korean folk stories."
