sum it all up! to be honest...i dont know anything about the philipines....all i know is i had 2 maids back in korea.

it isnt a well known country in the west, or in fact much of north/east asia. Does it have an interesting history? any palaces? whats modern philipines like?

my dad said there is just loads and loads or street kids and beer cost 35p?

5) Lots of Filipinos are friendly and foreigner-loving (as long as you're not black)

6) Your chances of breaking the Entertainment Biz is tripled since you're white, provided you got looks and some talent

7) You can pay off any government official

8) Very tasty food (if it's your kind of thing)

9) Boracay and other exotic resorts

10) Westernized education system

11) Some movies are released earlier

12) People are generally smaller than you so they'll look up to you (literally) - provided you're taller than 5'6

I also saw a blonde woman kissing a Filipino guy the customs booth at NAIA, we were in line and they were in front of us kissing like every 2 mins. Every time they do a lot of the Filipinos around us looked at them with cold stoned faces, I could tell they weren't happy looking at them.

As for hospitality, that's a stereotype. The Philippines and the Filipino people can be like any other people in any other country. There are some Filipino families who were very hospitable to me and there were some Filipinos I met here in Illinois who are @ssh*les or complete jerks! I knew Mexican Americans, Pakistanis, Italian Americans, and Germans from Germany who were very hospitable to me and Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese people who showed respect to my elderly grandmother like any other Asian. But I don't expect all of their fellow countrymen to be like that since each person can be different.

i think my laugh is pretty much normal like everyone else though. but i didn't mind her laughing later on.. because her bestfriend was in my world history class and she's in my biology class.

Tell you about the Philippines, the malls are huge! There are plenty of BEACHES outside Metro Manila (National Capital Region), There are many pretty & HOT girls, tell you more when I return!

3) The landscape of the countryside is wonderful

The Philippines is a country where if you speak English with an American/British/Ausralian accent, people will react in one or more of the following ways:

1) look up to you and think you're smart
2) give you better service if you're Caucasian or Japanese, but if you're Filipino, you'll get worse service because of their jealousy of your foreign citizenship, either way, you'll be overcharged for EVERYTHING, room, board, transportation, food, anything that doesn't have a price tag will be automatically be more expensive for you, and even if it does have a price tag, magical "required expense fees" appear out of nowhere
3) secretly hate you and despise you
4) be jealous of you
5) assume you're rich
6) smile to your face, but put you down in Tagalog to their friends right in front of your face in the assumption that you can't understand what they're saying, but you do
7) will be your friend to try to mooch off of you and your status
8) will expect you to pay for everything when you go out in a group of friends or cousins, because of #4
9) assume you're conceited, even if you're just talking in a normal way, even if you try to be as humble as possible and try your hardest to be nice to everybody, the fact that you speak perfect English overrides everything, and you'll be perceived as soplado (conceited), even when you didn't even do anything to merit that perception

10) be in awe of you and worship you, to the point where you can become an instant celebrity and a leading screen actor without having any actual acting talent: Sam Milby
