Some people, especially ethnic people, use VC as an excuse to refer to Vietnamese as a whole. Vietnamese are scary if people see us as enemies, and we are friendly if they see us as friends. Not everyone in the re-education camp or vnch camp are vietnamese, so if they get extra treatment on top of being treasonists, then one of the reasons might be they are people of different ethnics.

To the ethnic people, vietnamese have been evil to them for 100 or 1000 of years.

I think the government is kind-hearted for putting treasonists in re-education camp, but not concentration camp where everyone must die. You should be glad our government didn't take your dad's life after the war.

tim: i was born and raised in the south. ive also been back many times. i know what the vc's are like, i've seen the corruption there. but wherever there is power, there will be corruption. but the good thing is that vietnam is not really communist anymore, they are more about corporation and business now. i'm glad Nguyen Minh Triet and Nguyen Tan Dung was elected president and prime minister, respectively. This is the first time the government is being headed by 2 southerners which goes to show that the government is acting more like one unified country than just northerners bullying southerners.

I am not going go over how many innocent lives that VC have taken or bragging about how many VCs that my dad and my uncle killed during the war because it is not going to make any different because the war is already over and the VC won and it is the fact. I had never trying to defend the VNCH gov. in any ways because that gov. and the VCs are victims of the captitalism vs socialism. What do you expected from a war when you said my dad had killed his own people? He and the VCs have no choice when engaged in this war, they have to kill each other in order to survive.
