there is a growing trend for many Asians nowadays to become christians, especially in Singapore.
and some of the christian groups that have sprouted have identified themselves very much with the fundamentalist groups in the USA...
are asian folks prone to fundamentalism when they convert to christianity? is it due to our penchant for superstitions?

It is not the nature of asians, it is the nature of Christianity. The parts of the church growing through conversion are the fundamentalist protestant and the obediant Catholics who take the Great Commission along with the rest of the Bible seriously. As such they have the most to offer, beyond mere salvation.
So people who accept Christ and convert tend to belong at first to the fundamental denominations. This is true in Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe.
The mainline or liberal churches tend to have members who were born into them or former fundamentalist who still wish to worship God through Christ but have political/social differences with the conservative church
