China is now Boeing company's largest foreign supplier of parts, with US$2.5 billion of live contracts for aircraft products, a senior Boeing official said in Hong Kong on Thursday.
John Burns, vice president China operations of Boeing, said at the Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress held Monday through Thursday that China is an "exciting proposition", and offers greater opportunity for OEMs than "just selling airplanes".
"Liberalization is creating a more competitive environment and airline strategies are assisting with this growth by responding to the customer's desire to save time by flying point-to-point," he said at the congress.
China will need more than 2,900 new aircraft to satisfy the growth of the industry, Burns said, adding this will inevitably lead to more investment on the Chinese mainland.
According to Burns, Boeing currently has 170 direct Boeing employees in China and 3,000 people working in Boeing joint ventures.
"China now has a role in all current Boeing models," he added.
The Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2007 closed on Thursday in Hong Kong. It is the first time the Expo moves its venue from Singapore to Hong Kong.

Since the parts for Boeing come from China, I wonder how long it will be before Boeing planes start falling apart in the sky because of faulty parts, sending the planes crashing into neighborhoods taking hundreds of lives.
OMG ........... boeing parts made in china ? ............. im NEVER flying again ..............

Not only Boeing, Airbus is also major user of china maufacturing parts for the Airbus planes. Actually, they step up even further by setting up a complete assembly plant in Tianjin for the Airbus planes.
So if you don't fly Boeing and Airbus? What do you ride?? Indian made planes ??

Great China makes Jet planes with help from Russian.
You guys still don't known what Chinese suppliers are supplying to Being, I can only see Chinese media saying China became largest suppliers to Boeing, but no other sources.
You guys are prob missed informed about this, Boeing sells passenger jets to China, btw China is biggest customer (no surprise here). For Boeing to sell passenger planes, they have to established both maintenance & workshop & local suppliers in China to supply the planes. Boeing do this to many other countries that buys planes from them.
I am Jet plane freak, I'm subscribed to International Airplane magazine, there was article made for both Boeing & Airbus Ind. and had list of official suppliers, and I haven't seen Chinese companies in the list before.
If you guys know more about this; please let me know. Like company name of the supplier and what parts they supply to Boeing will be appreciated.

I watched a documentary some years ago, and I heard that the Chinese would sure want to start manufacturing commercial planes at home for a foreign company, and start making it own in the end. The thought that the Chinese would be progressing as rapidly in the domain of aeronautic didn't cross my mind at all at that time. How surprising it is... isn't it?
