it is one of the most popular chinese tradition, so i wonder any of you celebrating at home?

there are many stories on how the moon festival all started.

most popular is the story of a legendary hou yi shooting down 9 suns when the earth was surrounded by 10 suns.

as an award of his heroic, the emperor awarded him the pill for the elixir of life.

he then married to a beautiful wife.

later his wife betrayed him and stole the elixir of life and fled to the moon.

because of his deep love for his wife, he did not shoot down the moon.

so it becomes known as the moon festival.

for the cake....

another legend story is the ming dynasty formed during the mid-autumn (sept 15) and to celebrate the event, the moon cake was made.

it is september and the festival is approaching! icon_smile.gif

Oh yes! At your house my mum prepares a big fest for dinner and it usually ends with eating moon cakes or eating the glutinous rice balls. After we all finish eating I head outside to watch the moon.

Moon cakes. Ewwww....I hate that $hit! Too sweet and too oily.

Since mooncakes are only eaten once a year, I find it quite yummy! escpecially when accompanied by a cup of Chinese tea. Mid-autumn festival is for me a very good opportunity to meet up with family and friends for a good time together.

Usually we will get together and eat something nice at my place, then we will proceed to just be chilling, drinking some beer and play some videogames together (eyetoy, singstar, guitar hero and DDR). Our swedish friends will also join us at these times, purely for the fun.

I like to eat mooncakes but at the same time i don't because of it's sweetness. I remember playing lanterns when i was little and even have a mini lantern parade with the neigbourhood kids

yeah I remember last year I actually bring a moon cake to the school for lunch haha. But yeah I like eating moon cake. I can eat 1 moon cake without feeling sick or awful. I also like the 冰皮月餅 which is pretty tasty too.

try this....it's a myth..

during moon festival, write all your wishes on a piece of paper, then put it inside a balloon, and pump some air in it and let it goes. biggthumpup.gif

whoever receive your balloon might fulfill your wish, that is the hope! embarassedlaugh.gif
