I doubt they could bring any significant quantities of military hardware to affect the military balance in that area of the world, so I wouldn't be worried by the Philippine's fleet of WWII-era ships.

It's wasting money to spend money on the military hardwares. Tanks and guns is the old war, and the new war is the war of economy. Don't you agree?

Yea, and i would also like to add on by saying that the war on internet porn is a total failure!

If anything it's to help the AFP fight against terrorism. Besides, Vietnam, Philippines and China are cooperating on exploring Truong Sa together and share the resources.

No, just cooperation on exploration to have an idea of how large the "assumed to be large" amount of oil & gas in the area. China is just feeding Philippines the carrot. Arroyo can't solve the many of Philippines internal problems thus she always look for alternatives to score points like hailing Philippines boxer (pacquao? check the Philippines population frenzy for this guy), becoming quite like submissive to China (calling Hu/China big brother, what a joke?), constantly report about meetings with Bush, etc. I think Philippines need a better leader.
OK, once the involving parties know exactly how much oil & gas in the region, it will turn to China's advantage. China won't openly extract it but will rather resort to some cheap & low-morale tactics (shooting fisherman, anyone?). China is facing a dilemma as well, on the one side, she has to deal with the image of "sick man of Asia", "paper tiger" (the recent incident of solider rebellion regarding the issue of food?? biggrin.gif ) which is still hanging, fogging in there, on the other side she tacitly show off her muscles (shooting satellites, sending a guy into the space for no apparent reason laugh.gif ) . Philippines is a soft target, and the "China threat" thing seems to have serve China both ways.

Philippines never had a good leader for long time. Usually I do agree with some things that Arroyo believes in, some I don't, because I think it's a ploy to hide some of the negative things of her administration.

We'll see how that Hoang Sa thing works out. And i don't think China will sacrifice another war with Vietnam, if it uses trickery against Vietnam after the Phil, concerning Hoang Sa. Their economy will go down if it does.

I still don't know why people here are still putting answers in this thread. The thread starter is without a doubt a troll.
