He's a poet. I just found some more info on him. His birth name is Thao Somnouk Silosoth and he was adopted by an American pilot. He currently lives in Minnesota with his wife Kab Vaj, an award-winning author.

ok ok i know who he is. i know his wife's family.
i've never talked to him much but i've seen him when i'm in MN sometimes.
i didn't know he was poet...nor did i know his wife was an award-winning author.

kuv hnov tias nws yog hmoob thiab nplog los yog hmoob thiab thaib. nws txiv yog kuv txiv laus tus niam tij cov neeg. kuv tsis nco qab lawv yog xeem dab tsi lawm. kuv hnov tias nws txiv tuag thaum nws tseem yog ib tus me nyuam ab (baby) ces nws niam rov qab mus nyob nrho nplog (los thaib) lawm. tom qab ntawv lawm ces kuv tsis paub lawm.
cov lus kuv hais no yog lus kuv hnov xwb, kuv tsis paub tseeb tias puas yog tiag tiag. qhov kuv paub tseeb ces yog tias nws yog half hmoob.

thov txim yog kuv sau ib cov lus, saum saud, tsis yog lawm.

According to the info I found, he was born in Vientiane and was adopted by an American pilot and later came to the U.S. in 1973 with his adoptive father.
vanggirlie
yea i remember his wife telling me something about him being adopted and that's how he came to america.

from what i've heard he is hmong and was adopted. but of course when you're talking about an asian who was adopted and has no clues who there parents really were, they can be any asian ethnicity.
vanggirlie
he actually found out who his father was. his father is related to my brother-in-law's sister-in-law...if you can make any sense out what i just wrote...yea.
