The official bodies have denied it, but with homeground advantage, the PRC's prospect of topping the medals tally in 2008 is not only possible but quite achievable. What areas/events could be considered as strong points for team China and what events could the PRC improve on to snatch off a gold or 2 from it's rivals.

reliable events:
==========
diving: 8
table tennis: 4
cabbit
Many of the gymnastic events and possibly women's swimming events.
etano
Badminton - women's singles, women's doubles and probably men's single
Shooting - china is good for at least 2 or 3 gold medals
Gymnastics - probably 3 or 4 gold medals
Rowing - 1 gold medal ( women's team , the team which won the recent world championship )
Athlete - Liu Xiang and women's marathon
Weighlifting - several gold medals especially in the women's events

to really dominate in olympics, china needs to perform better in swimming events and swimming offers the most gold medals, the US is gonna win many gold medals in swimming. athlete is another event which offers many gold medals but it is quite difficult for China to do well compare to swimming which China had proven in the past in winning world championship ( women's team )
Sae

Archery: Koreans dominate, but China might get a hold of at least one medal
Fencing: Men's Team Epeé (World Champions), Women's Team Epeé (World Champions)
Tennis: Women's double

Foreigners with only get gold medals with 50% gold. Chinese athletes will get gold medals that are 99.99999% pure.

So even when foreigners win, they lose.... laugh.gif

^ if thats true then its extremely childish.

Also if the gold was that pure it would easily be bent/damaged.

^ Childish and UNSPORTING, the worst games ever if it's true.

Chinese understand that foreigners don't know how to handle pure gold. That's why they given that 12K gold. Would you give some Durian, if they didn't appreciated it.

Knowing foreigners they probably say, "Cheap Chinese made Medals that bend" when given pure gold.

lol, im not going to make a serious reply but dis-regarding everything else why should Chinese atheletes recieve better medals then other atheltes.

Big deal with Gold medals.

I hope China show fair and good sportmanship on this olympic, not like the U-22 soccer match played between PRC vs Japan.
