I was born in a christian family..so when we were young my parents said that our minister at church said that we were not allowed to participate in any halloween activities. I remember my sisters and I would only be allowed to look out the window at all the other kids go trick or treat. Then i remember when i was about 12 my parents decided to let us go but bu then i was already getting old LOLZ. Just wondering for those of u who are christian, if u know that this is true or not? I am not sure if the minister knew what he was talking about.

Halloween is a pagan festival, it's still celebrated in Mexico as closer to its original form....previously it was known as "all souls night"....all souls day is Nov 1 (in Mexico), its a festival which dates from the middle ages when the barrier's between the world of the dead and the world of the living are the weakest...... which is where the skeletons etc come from.

I know some "christian" groups (Jehovah's witnesses for example) consider the night a bad thing...interesting that the "jack o'lantern" is supposed to be a representation of the "damned soul" and were cut in the faces of demons to frighten away evil spirits...

They'll consider it a bull $hit.

So does zodiacs and star scopes.

All Christians focus their belief on the son and the one true god.

Those are not true Christians.

They're just pay homage to the church so they won't get their asses ended up in hell but eventually they'll end up in hell alright.

I went to a Catholic school where all the girls spread their legs like Satan's hookers.

My point is that just because they're Christian doesn't mean they'll exclude themselves for having a little fun. Just like Buddhists and what not all celebrate Christmas here, no trouble.

QFT.

IMHO, I believe less than half of all self-proclaimed Christians are genuine. You know I always considered Christianity as a way of life - or a new life I guess, instead of a "religion" that many people find attractive for the wrong reasons.

Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate any holidays, mainly bec. the idea is that you're supposed to be uber Christian EVERYDAY, not a few select ones out of the year.

I think most parents, even Christians, recognize clean fun, and that for the children, it's ok. Now it's a day to dress up and have fun, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's only a bad thing if you attach bad things to it.

same here...
you see, contrary to beliefs, catholics are not that rigid and frigid (LOL) people...

free will and free choice are the keywords!

Graham_Cracker07
I live around lots of Evangelical Christians (I live in the South) and almost everyone celebrates Halloween. Some ppl do have things at church on Halloween but it's usually not b/c they consider it evil, it's the safer alternative to going door to door.

Yeah, Catholics are cool about a lot of things. There's this big Catholic church here that has Oktoberfest where they serve alcohol. I dunno a lot of other churches that would do that.
Balot
i dunno.. but why do you have cebu on your sig? arent you from china? just curious and off topic

For awhile our church we went to when I was younger wouldn't allow any celebration of Halloween. Luckily there wasn't any strict churches in the areas we moved too, so eventually my parents "lightened up" and so I went trick or treating for my first and last time when I was 14 :/, lameness.

Well me too that's why I never accept Christianity cause I do not want to contradict my character.

Since most of them proclaim that they're pure and doing good and such and such but in reality it's really the opposite in what they say.

Quite a number of them are hypocrites as Jesus used to say.

I'm a human, I have faults, I want to have fun whenever I feel like it and I help out whenever I could.

I am your everyday man in real life and nothing more.

My church dresses up in non-sinister costumes and celebrate the "Harvest". When you think about it, most holidays were modified from pagan to Christian.
