ello. I am joining this forum in hoping that I can find out some information about the trail of my roots. My family and I are Vietnamese/Chinese. We were the many millions of boat people that fled after the fall of Saigon in '78. We stayed at the Songkhla Vietnamese Refugee Camp in Thailand for 18 months before coming to America. I'm trying to find as many info about this camp as possible and would absolutely appreciate your help. I've been searching and searching everywhere online and seem to be coming up with nothing but stories and blog entries of people's personal experiences there. I would love to hear about your story and your time there. I've also have a lot of unanswered questions about this camp.

-Is this camp still around?
-I like to see pictures of this camp.
-Did they take ID's photos of all their refugees at this camp? if yes then how can i obtain a copy?
-How big was this camp?
-What was in this camp besides shelter? ex:was there any stores, bathroom facilities, etc.
-Anybody have pictures of your stayed at this camp?
-Can I obtain camp records?

These are some of the many questions I have. I do wish you can help us and hope to hear from you soon. If you can't help us, can you please give us guidance as to where we can go to obtain these information? Thanks again

Best,

I am a Vietnamese/Chinese refugee like yourself but I stayed at a camp in Hong Kong, forgot the name of the camp though.

Thank god you escaped in time. The commies were persecuting people. My relatives were being imprisoned for a supposed "supporting" boat people.
