Ayalas, Sy, Tan, Gutierrez, Lacson or Malay-alap are family names of Filipinos with different ethnical backgrounds. What unites them is the culture of being a Filipino.

Filipino Mestizos

This one looks more chinese than mestizo
he's on wikipedia,

When wikipedia talks about Mestizos they include all types of mixtures, including Chinese-Filipino, Spanish-Filipino, American-Filipino, etc. So Chinito is kinda included in Mestizo in that definition. I'm not sure how most Filipinos define it, but I usually hear Mestizos & Chinitos as being separate groups. Mestizos being Filipinos w/ European (including American) mixture, Chinitos being Filipinos w/ East Asian mixture. The first guy looks Spanish mestizo. The second guy looks like a mixture of Chinese & Spanish to me.
You can just look at my sig, Negritos, Malays, Chinitos, and Mestizos.

Mestisos are people who have european blood in them(Spanish and white people in general). Chinitos are people who are chinese-filipino(Chinese who immigrated or part chinese).
Now, if you look chinese you can be described as chinito(Really chinesey eyes, chinese feautures) if you look like you are half-white(light skinned, straight nose, etc) then you can be described as mestiso even if you are not.

but yeah technically, there is no real filipinos since we formed a country by uniting all

I think a vast majority of Filipinos are technically Mestizos. Mestizo just means mixed blood, so you can be Chinese-Filipino, Malaysian-Filipino or Spanish-Filipino. Original inhabitants of Philippines were mostly of blood Malaysian-Taiwanese, so even our early settlers are considered Mestizo since they are mixed.
philfighter
Nov 16 2007, 04:15 PM
^^ If you say mixed blood, 100% of all human beings are of mixed blood because there is no such thing as a pure race. However, if you based it thru 3 generations ago, Mestizos would still be a minority because a lot of Filipinos have full Malay blood. It's only the family name that made it look that we have Spanish Blood. Take note, in the past, Spaniards looked down on Filipinos so its rare to have them marry each other except if the Filipino is an illustrado or really beautiful.
