Full Version: Why are people so negative when it comes to talking bout other ppl'

Ok, so you're not a doctor who works in ER. Or a big shot lawyer for a big law firm working on multi-millionaire dollar cases. Or even a researcher who is about to make a breakthrough.

What if you're just doing a normal job? Do you not have the right to take pride in your work? Yeh the world will probably go on tomorrow if you're not there but if you do your work well and your coworkers see you as dependable and respect you, then isn't that worth something?

I find when talking to people about jobs/career, its frustrating because say you take pride in your work, you'll just hear someone shoot you down by saying, "oh, you're just a [insert job title here], you don't do anything worthwhile." Or something negative.

And that kills it really because negativity is like a virus. You start thinking to yourself, "yeah, whats the point of putting extra effort into my work? It doesn't mean anything anyways." And the downward spiral starts.

I think no matter what job you do, as long as you do it well, you have the right to take serious pride in it. It doesn't matter what type of job it is or how much you're getting paid.

Working is what most people do and its what makes the world go round.

If you really had pride in your work, you wouldn't be so easily swayed by other people discounting your importance. I'm not gonna lie and pretend that what I do is great and awesome cuz to be honest, i don't think I do anything really that important. But I do a good job because I see it as a reflection of myself.

Aside from the researcher about to make a breakthrough the above are normal jobs.

Anyway it's fine for people to take pride in their job, regardless of what it is but if you need to seek the approval to do so it's quite obvious that you're not proud of it.

i take pride in not having a job, and laugh at all the suckers that have to work laugh.gif

high priced lawyers and doctors or medical research people arn't so much to be boasting about. Certainly there's alot of money in it, but the stress associated with the work isn't worth the money. I recall a post about becomeing a Doctor on the forums, and how Doctors often have a shorter life expectancy than their patients, provided they're not terminally ill.

Well it depends on how prioritise your life. If you want a presitigious occupation then by all means, spend less time sulking and go for it. But ask any lawyer, doctor or researcher what their job is really like.

oh you are stupid, i understand.
you dont understand the word career. and you defintion of the colloquism "asiaphile" also reflects your inability to understand anything over a 3rd grade level.

in other words you are an idiot. Talktohand.gif
career implies i make a living out of it and asiaphile implies i select "victims" of my sexual attraction based on being asian. both of which are further examples of you being wrong and stupid.
good luck with that laugh.gif

and that is what makes you such a sad loser. is that you can decide oon people based solely on your own stupid inherited stereotypes. your family obviously was dysfunctional and your parenst must have been very useless to have spawned such a hate-filled little loser laugh.gif

i would never have thought of introducing parents to this dicussion. I would never have felt the need. But since you did, it just goes to show that your asiaphileness extends from something deeeper. Perhaps by marryin and cohabiting with an asian, you subconsciously want to "better" yourself.

laugh.gif nice try. my words hurt you because they are the truth. yours just amuses me as they show your stupidity. anyway you started a thread asking " Why are people so negative when it comes to talking bout other ppl'" and you attack me solely based on my skin colour and the sole fact i married an asian. even you can see how truly retarded that is right? or are you THAT stupid? laugh.gif
