“Loi Krathong” is traditionally performed on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month, which usually falls on some day in November. The floating of a ‘Krathong' – a banana–leaf cup – is intended to float away ill fortune as well as to express apologies to Khongkha or Ganga, the River Goddess. Some believe that the ritual is meant to worship the Buddha's footprint on the bank of the Narmada River, while others say that it is to pay respect to Phra Uppakhut, one of the Lord Buddha's great disciples.

it's the same idea as loi krathongthe in all other parts of the country, but with another name in the North, favouring both on river krathong and more light Lantern and Kom Loi.

peng= เพ็ญ or full moon
this month, accoring to the old tradition, is counted as second lunar month of the years,
that's how come the name "Yi peng"

There were also Loi Krathong festival at my campus too. But last night I had a common cold and I slept all day all night. So I didn't Loi Krathong this year.

These pics were taken last year at the same period.

This was my faculty's Nang Noppamas contestent last year.

wow very big parade and event

what i have seen for these 4 years at chula was only a small night parade. i never been to loy krathong at other places or chaophraya river myself.

firework at my uni

actually there was one lattern float into the sky^^

at chaophraya river video from my friend who was laison and went with vips for งานศาลโลก

first and last time for 4 years i wore thai traditional suit was for world uni games.

her family is from Chiangmai and Chiangrai <<< actual Tai(Lao) ppl, loy percent lolzzz
although she looks Korean, but i rather say Chinese, but her sister has more of the typical Tai look.

Why are you so serious about who Peaceman actually is?

For me, anyone can come in this Thai chat, and has right to post here no matter he's Thai or not.
So I'm not worried if Peaceman is not Thai. Although he lied to me that he's Thai (in case your accuse is correct).

What I'm serious most is anyone who comes in this Thai chat and post something idiot and try his best to bash our Thai people in our own forum.
Peaceman doesn't do that. So I like him no matter he is Siri or not.

เออ แล้วเมื่อไรครับที่ผมพูดยกย่องประเทศของผม ประเทศของผมคือสหรัฐอเมริกานะครับ ผมไม่ได้อาศัยอยู่ในประเทศลาว ประเทศลาวก็คือประเทศลาวครับ แต่ที่ผมพูดถึงคือคนเชื้อชาติเดียวกันกับผมครับ ทั้งในลาวและในไทย ผมไม่สามารถจะเป็นพวกชาตินิยมได้หรอกครับ เพราะว่าผมไม่ได้ใช้สัญชาติลาว

ถึงแม้ว่าอาจจะมีบางคนที่เข้าใจผมผิด ๆ แต่ก็อีกนั่นแหละ ยังมีส่วนส่วนใหญ่ที่พร้อมที่จะเปิดใจยอมรับกับเรื่องที่ผมพยายามจะสื่อออกไป ส่วนคุณเองนะจะไปรู้ได้ยังไงว่าคนไทยคิดอย่างไร คนไทยเป็นคนดี แล้วญาติผม ครอบครัวผมบางส่วนก็เป็นคนไทย แล้วผมจะไปดิสเครดิตญาติผมกับครอบครัวผมไปทำไมครับ

ใช่ครับ ผมพยายามจะมาแชร์เรื่องเหล่านี้กับคนที่อาจจะไม่มีการศึกษาสูงมากขนาดพวกเพื่อนๆของผม ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้เลยแตกต่างออกไป แต่ก็นั่นแหละครับ คนที่ไม่เปิดใจยอมรับอะไรแบบใครบางคนที่นี่ (ผมไม่ได้เหมารวมทั้งหมดนะครับ อย่าเข้าใจผมผิด บางคนเท่านั้นครับ) ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าเขาเป็นคนไม่ดี ใช่ครับ บางครั้งการหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ยอมรับรู้อะไรเลยก็อาจจะเป็นการดีสำหรับพวกเขา

thai ppl are my little brothers and sisters, so i find it funny a filipino guy is trying to tell me what i should think or say about my own little brother and sister

I dont believe anyone should be bashing Thai ppl, it gets us nowhere, dont get me wrong, i thought Siri was a funny dude, and i find it hillarious he turned out to be who he was

ถ้าคุณเข้าใจสิ่งที่ผมโพสท์ก็ดี...เเต่ถ้าไม่...ก็ไม่เป็นไร...ผมแค่อยากอธิบายให้ฟังว่า การที่คุณจะมาใช้เรืองชาติพันธ์บริสุทธิ แบ่งชาวไทยออกเป็น สยามและลาว นั้นเป็นเรื่องที่ไม่ถูกต้อง เพราะคนไทยเเท้ ก็คือคนสายเลือดลูกผสม

หรือแม้เเต่ขุนเจือง ผู้รบชนะล้านช้าง ลูกหลาน"ปู่เจ้าลาวจก(ผู้เริ่มต้นราชวงศ์ลาว)" ก็มีเชื้อสายมอญ ซึ่งก็เป็นเรื่องธรรมดาอยู่เอง เพราะแถบล้านนา และโดยรอบ ก็เป็นการผสมผสานของชาว มอญ ลั้ว ไท(ไทยวน ไทลื้อ ไทเขิน) กลายเป็นกลุ่มล้านนาขึ้นมาอยู่แล้ว นี่ยังไม่นับเมื่อ ไทยสยามตีได้ ล้านนามาจากพม่า พม่าได้"เทครัว" เอาผู้คนไปจนกลายเป็นเมืองร้าง ทำให้เราต้องกวาดต้อนผู้คนจากเมืองรอบข้างผสมรวม ไปเป็นพลเมืองล้านนา

หรือการที่พวกคุณพยามจะให้ทุกคนเชื่อว่า คนไทมาจากคนลาวนั้น นักวิชาการของจีน ก็ได้ค้นคว้ามาแล้วว่า อายหลาว(อ้ายลาว) สังกัดในชาติพันธุ์ผู ชนเผ่าผูหรือที่เรียกว่าไป่ผู ก็คือส่วนนึงของไป่เย่ว นักวิชาการอันมีเจียงอิ้งเหลียง หวงหุุ้ยคุน โหลซิงหลิน หลินหุ่ยเซง เป็นต้น ได้เห็นเป็นเอกฉันทน์ว่า ชนชาติไทมีต้นกำเนิดมาจากไป่เย่ว ซึ่งก็คือหลายเผ่าพันธุ์รวมกันเป็นชนชาติ
เช่นเดียวกับที่คนไทยคือคนหลากเผ่าพันธุ์ รวมกันเป็นสายเลือดลูกผสม ที่ผสมผสานเอาศิลปะวัฒนธรรมของบรรพบุรุษตนเองมาสร้างและพัฒนาให้เกิดเอกลักษณ์ชัดเจนของชนชาติไทย
