I never saw the trailer until I went to watch Goal yesterday. It's definitely a very interesting and different movie. Aamir looks adorable.

I watched this movie yesterday. It is brilliant. It is a masterpiece. It is so moving that it forces you to think. People gave an applause when the movie ended, I also clapped though I felt a bit odd to clap in a movie theater, but the film is worth more. I asked many people it is the same with every show of this movie. It is very rare when people give big applause for a movie.

A first for Filmfare: Darsheel for Best Actor

New Delhi: The Filmfare nominations for the year 2007 are out but it's the Best Actor in a Leading Role category that is attracting all the attention.

For the first time in the history of Filmfare awards, a child actor, that is nine-year-old Darsheel Safary has been nominated for Best Actor in a Lead Role.

Darsheel has been nominated for his portrayal of Ishaan, a dyslexic child in Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par.

Aamir too has been nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role category.

Darsheel will be competing with biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapur for the best actor title.

Darsheel was nominated for and won the Screen Award for Best Child Actor in January this year.

However, the award upset the young actor who said that the Best Actor Award should be his and he won't settle for a child actor award.

Darsheel firmly believes that since Aamir Khan was also nominated in the Best Supporting Actor Award category, the best Actor nomination and award is what he really deserved. The Best Actor Award at the ceremony was bagged by Shah Rukh Khan for Chak De India.

"I am playing the lead role in the film, so I should get the Best Actor Award," Darsheel says.

Taare Zameen Par swept the 14th Screen Awards, with the debutant director of the movie, Aamir Khan, sharing even the Best Director's Award with Shimit Amin of Chak De India.

'Taare Zameen Par' smashes box office records!

Actor-turned-director Amir Khan's directorial debut 'Taare Zameen Par' - a moving tale of a boy with learning disability - has set the box office tills ringing. It has netted Rs.770 million in its fourth week.

The movie, running neck-on-neck with last year's superhit 'Om Shanti Om' in terms of business, may even surpass the blockbuster featuring Shah Rukh Khan if it continues to sweep the box-office for a few more weeks.

Though the collections had slightly dropped in the third week of its release to hover around 60 percent, it picked up again this week. More than the media hype, it is the favourable word-of-mouth publicity that actually boosted its box-office performance.

In Mumbai, collections registered 58 percent last week. But after the Maharashtra government exempted the movie from entertainment tax (60 percent of the total ticket price), collections have climbed to 62 percent this week.

No Bollywood movie in recent memory pulled at the heartstrings of the audience - masses and celebrities alike - as 'Taare Zameen Par'.

Aamir Khan has scored over his colleague Shah Rukh Khan in content. While Shah Rukh Khan's 'OSO' was charismatic and boasted of fresh-faced Deepika Padukone to capture the audience's imagination, Aamir touched hearts with the simplicity of the plot and sincere presentation.

Though a number of movies had been made earlier in Bollywood about physically or mentally challenged children, none came close to 'Taare...' in terms of acceptance, coupled with box-office success.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Black' (2005), based on the life of Helen Keller, was the story of a blind and deaf girl, Michelle MacNally, which was critically acclaimed at the box-office. But it failed to sparkle.

Earlier, Sunil Dutt's 1983 film 'Dard Ka Rishta', which narrated the story of a girl-child suffering from cancer, had also met the same fate though the movie launched Khushboo, the child actress who later became a successful leading lady in Tamil movies.

But comedian Mehmood's 'Kunwara Baap' (1974), about a poor rickshaw-puller adopting an abandoned illegitimate polio-afflicted child, was a box-office success.

So was the Marathi movie 'Shwaas', which was India's official Oscar entry in 2004. The story was about a boy affected by retinoblastoma, a rare retinal cancer.

Disney picks up rights of Tare Zameen Par

The film did extremely well in United States and Aamir is a familiar name after his film 'Lagaan' was nominated for Academy awards

Mumbai:Walt Disney has picked up the rights of Aamir Khan's directorial debut "Taare Zameen Par" for the US mainstream home video release.

Studios in the US are familiar with the quality of Aamir's work since his film "Lagaan" was nominated for the Academy awards.

"Two factors led them to buy the home video rights. One was the fact that the film has done extremely well in the United States and the other is that the film shows concern for children and their upbringing. Disney wanted to be associated with the film since it caters to children's issue," Aamir said. He said he was happy and proud to be associated with Walt Disney.

"They are the best when it comes to kids. The film has done well in the US and I hope the same happens with the DVDs as well," Aamir said. The actor will release the DVD format of the film tomorrow. "Taare Zameen Par" is a story about a dyslexic child and how a teacher helps him to come out of it.

Nice and honest review, it seems you have a passion for movies. Taare Zameen Par is the first and only movie which made me so emotional that I got teary eyed. Never experienced anything like this before. That's my honest confession.
