Depends on the region I suppose. One of my relatives tried growing some watermelon and they were the sorriest things you'll ever see, the state in general is too arid. He was pretty successful in growing cantelope, but I think it was too water intensive to be worth it. He prefers growing dates, but also grows some other crops to provide subsestance to farmhands.

Yeah growing watermellon is tough. It does take alot of water and the climate has to be right for it to grow properly. I remember a neighbour trying to grow it. It took lots and lots of water.
I know in India there are alot of unusual fruits & vegetables not found in other countries (namely the west).
check out this website theres pictures of all kinds of unusual stuff.

The juice that you can make from Watermelon actually tastes pretty good if it's chilled and you put some sort of spice in it(I'm not even sure if it was a spice, my Mom knows).
Something that my friends used to love was Indian lemonade(we call it sherbut). I dunno how anyone can drink that American crap. keke, I could go on and on about Indian juices.
My favorite Indian(well I'm not sure if it's Indian, but I dunno the English name) fruit is the jamfrut. It's pretty filling for a pear sized fruit. The "meat" of it doesn't have a particular taste that I could describe, but it's pretty sucuauent.
