I was in the bathroom one time taking a long brown dump and i hear the door knob shake a little. I heard my mom thinking out loud,
"Leej twg es nyob hauv hauj nab ntev ua luaj li nes...Tsuag tsuag thiab os kuv dim dim quav lawm os."
When i came out of the bathroom my mom was thinking to herself out loud again, "Oh, yog kuv tus me tub lis xwb.
Ua li cas nws siv hauj nab ntev ua luaj li nes."
How embarassing. She bust me out like that to the whole family and some cousins without thinking about it.
It's like they are telling you what they are going to do while doing it. "Im so bored at home, maybe i should walk outside to feed the animals. But, Im too lazy. Wait. I will feed the animals, they need food to grow, and they need to grow so that i can eat them." They think outloud by talking to themselves at the same time while walking around and doing chores.
Why do Hmong people think out loud?
I just want to hear what you guy have to say about this...

this is what i think. it sounds like they are saying what they're thinking (as in like you said) but in actuality they are actually talking to you directly. they're just not using the direct form of speech. you know some people speak this way when they want to insult you on the sly...like not directly to you but was meant for you.
sorry if i don't make sense but yea that's what i always thought when people like that.

Hmong people like to indirectly comment on people and they love to use proverbs.
