two are OVA`s, and one is 30 episodes long.
they`re really good, thats why i expect a lot from this new series

Yup, the old Macross series are great (if you don't mind the outdated 80s and 90s art). There were about a dozen Macross anime before Macross Frontier. My favourite ones are the original Macross series, Macross: Do You Remember Love, and Macross 7.

I've watched the first episode of Macross Frontier, and it looks promising.

Macross always has a good plot and my favorite Mecha series..

Macross Frontier is amazing (the 1st ep), if your a Macross fan like I do you'll realise it pays a lot of homage to the old Macross series. I can't wait till April to see the next epsiode!

I think the very first Macross series and movie are the best. The original series is simply called "Macross", and the movie for it is called "Macross: Do You Remember Love?" All the later Macross series would make a lot more sense once you've seen the original.

If you're confused which Macross comes after which, then here's a brief timeline for the main series:

Macross Zero -> 2008
Macross -> 2009-2012
Macross Plus -> 2040
Macross 7 -> 2045-2047
Macross Frontier -> 2059

^those aren`t the only ones, there are more

Yup, there's also Macross II and the Macross 7 spin-offs, but they're not really part of the main series. Macross II is set in an alternate universe, while the Macross 7 spin-offs have little to do with the main story. The main series are the five I already mentioned: Macross Zero, Macross, Macross Plus, Macross 7, and Macross Frontier.

I just watched EP2 and it has subs...its from Gattai on baka-updates. When i re-downloaded EP 1 from Gattai it seemed TV version was chopped up... If you still have the first DL on EP1 (promo version ) DL back in Jan. you will see a huge difference on both takes. I just hope on future episodes the won't cut it up like what they did to EP1.

I watched episode 2 yesterday, and all I can say is the cel-shaded animation looks just as impressive as Gundam 00 (although that uses a different style of animation). I hope the story will be just as good though.

Nah, it's only the mechs that are cel-shaded. Everything else is still 2D.

I watched it yesterday. Episode 3 seemed quite similar to the original Macross.

Macross is different from other mech anime is that it's always analoged by a singer or a beautiful songstress...

Well, every Macross anime has a singer or songstress, but what I meant is that Macross Frontier has more specific similarities to the very first Macross, like a mysterious alien invasion, the hero taking control of a VF mech after its pilot is killed, the protagonists being trapped underground, the hero then being recruited as a new VF pilot, the heroine taking part in a Miss Macross contest, etc.

this series is okay.

Actually, the Macross 7 Trash manga is also relevant to the main series, but I forgot to include it in the list.

what i like from macross is conceptualize inspiring, inspire lots of anime and Hollywood movies.
everyting from the first macross element has been re-introduced in this series.

Didn't Macross pretty much invent the whole transformable robot? I remember Gundam had to make transforming robots in Gundam ZZ just to compete. Ever since then, it seems like Gundam has been adapting to whatever trends were popular: Gundam G was to copy Street Fighter, Gundam Wing was to copy Sailor Moon, etc.

Anyways, I really liked the original Macross. However, Macross II and Macross 7 almost gave me a brain aneurysm because the were so bad. Then I saw Macross Plus, which renewed my faith in the series. So, you guys think I should check out Macross Frontier?

macross frontier is pretty much re-introduce almost all original first macross(robotech) element ....

and yes , macross is earlier than transformers,

but macross introduced much more science, deep drama and engineering accuracy as early as first macross.
it is also the first revolution of anime, to appeal more "mature" audience.

if you see Frontier,
its pretty much with current CG animation top quality. and of course : lots of science stuffs
as long as u not ressist japanese macross sing theme tradition, pretty boy stuffs, fast and intense battle.

I recommend this series.
