On 26 December 2004 a day after Christmas, a disaster in the form of gaint waves tsunami devastated the Indian Ocean region resulting in one of the worst disasters in modern times. Inimaginable number of people were killed and billions of dollars of property got destroyed as an aftermath. Even after 3 years many people are still struggling to cope with the loss. Lets pray for the victims and hope that nothing like this ever happen again.

I can't believe it's been 3 years already. Any information on how things are now in the countries affected, I haven't heard anything for ages

I believe Thailand, Indonesia and India have progressed well but some of the affected places in Lanka are still in the stone ages mainly due to government corruption and a refusal over whose responsible for the reconstruction especially in areas like Batticaloa on the East Coast of Lanka and other areas that have a predominant Tamil population. Government seems to refuse to relocate refugees stuck near Trincomalee. Plus large sums of money from NGO's and the UN to aid construction have gone missing in government officials hands. I believe the then UN president Kofi Annan was refused a visit to East Coast areas in Lanka. I'm not really aware on how India or other countries are progressing but I hear in Thailand its business as usual.

That's the most horribly natural disaster I ever see with my bare eyes in my life.

One thing that is a bit confusing is that how did the Tsunami reach Kenya, Somalia and the other African countries? Because these countries has also been affected, around 40 to 50 people died
