Can you give us an example of these differences?
I think that if you want to look at models for Vietnam’s ultimate development, you should not look at China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines or Thailand. Instead, look at Korea or Japan. I think that’s the direction Vietnam is going.

One last question: If someone were to ask you to describe Vietnam in one sentence, what would you say?
Ninety million, smart, hard working, talented, consumer-oriented Confucians - go and do business with them.

vietnam is still dirt poor. i am happy when all the people have proper toilets instead of taking dumps into the saigon river. embarassedlaugh.gif

I wouldn't connect Confucianism with hardworking people. I know a bunch Chinese and Vietnamese who aren't that good in school or math, too. They work at Mc Donalds or sit at home and watch TV.

I've Thais, Mongolains and a Filipina next to the Confucian Chinese and Vietnamese at my school. My school is only for the best students. We've 4 schooltypes here and I visit the best and I am Thai - don't be irritated due to my nick at AF biggthumpup.gif
