Truong Sa ^ Hoang Sa - China has gone too far?

For those of you who don't know, these are two groups of islands in the South China Sea just east of Vietnam. They have long been part of Vietnam's territory and in 1974 the Chinese annexed them by force. Of course, they are still unresolved as to who is the legal sovereignty to own it but recently China has announced that it would build a big city, San Sha or in Vietnamese Tam Sa. Regardless of name, I think this issue must be resolved by an international court or else it may lead to further downs in relations between the regional neighbours.

What do you think? - Also, Vietnamese all over the world regardless of beliefs (I don't care if you believe in Communism or not), Vietnamese all over the world have protested these actions by the Chinese government. Do you think China will invade Vietnam in the near future?

Before this matter is settled, let's enjoy this old song of friendship between Vietnam and China.

An old propaganda Vietnamese/Chinese song in 1960s and early 1970s. At that time, China was backing North Vietnam army in the war against American. This song was working as a propoganda song to praise the friendship between China and Vietnam.

A brief meaning of this song:

Vietnam and China, our mountains are conjoint, our seas are conjoint.

We both side with east sea, and our friendship looks like rising sun.

We drink the water from the same river. We meet each other day and night, and we see the morning sun at the same time (the same time zone).

We have the same belief (communism), and our hearts are together.

We advance to victory together.

I'm sorry but personally I think communism is out of date. Communism made Vietnam's economy fail and as such they adopted a more capitalist approach and look where Vietnam is today, the 2nd fastest growing economy in the world...behind the Chinese rats (it's almost year of the rat).

Though communism as an ideology tries to promote equilibrium among its citizens, it has failed time and time again.

But that's just my opinion, don't attack it just because you think otherwise. The problem with people who believe so strongly in something, they will attack the opposition. These are just my opinions, if you truly are a respectful person, I urge you respect my beliefs and as such I will respect yours. If you go on blabbering and attacking my beliefs, then you truly are mad.

Besides, what gives if I believe in demovracy? - Where is the inhumanity in that?

I can assure most of you live in democratic societies, so by scathing democracy, you would be attacking your host nation. I am proud to be Vietnamese, and to have such a wide diaspora. North or South, communist or not, the enemy is China and we will not let that happen. Unfortunately you can't deny the CPV's wrongful dealings of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. We must remember that they once belonged to us - and will one day return to us.

The future will bring all the answers for Vietnam, we can sit here and argue all we like , but Vietnam's future is in its citizen's hands. Let's hope they make an educated decision.

Lately, there have been dozens of vandalist incidents in the US and Australia - against who more than the Overseas community. We will not deny that they are ardently anti-communist (mostly the Government) but this is because most of them are boat people and their descendants, and lately many community centres and yellow flags have been vandalised. Now even if you believe in communism, these actions are filthy and one may say disgustingly disrespectful of fellow Vietnamese.

Since when have these Viet Kieu's directly targeted citizens of communist Vietnam? - It's always been towards the government. It is so good to see many Vietnamese abroad, to see our fellow people succeed in whatever they do. But after all, these 'du hoc' and communist infiltrators are only a minority in these countries. I personally think alot of people become arrogant because of communism and democracy. Both sides are quite arrogant but at the end of the day, democracy will prevail!.
