I'm about to ask my boss for a raise. Any advice on how and when to ask for a raise? for those who have done it.
Mr Laocean
Depends on my experience and level, also on how I'm doing..

I'd come across the boss like this,

"Hey ____, let me get to the point before I waste any more of your time. I believe my past records and level of experience can be more lit upon through a raise. I believe that I'm outdoing, ______. (Depends on what you do)"

Basically, sound confident, don't come across the board too confident, but just enough. Make the boss believe you want it and that you deserve it. If so, you'll get it. The thing you need to do first though, is really work your @$$ off so your work gets known before you take any action.

What I did was to ask for a review first. Later on, re-emphasizing my value to the company. If the company is reluctant to increase the pay, I'll ask for more responsibilities or I'll tell my boss that I would like to know what I can do to increase my salary. I am pretty sure that you would most likely be successful the second time round. But of course, you'll most likely be working twice as hard for awhile. embarassedlaugh.gif

employee: Mr. Cutter, I ask you for help. My family is starving...I barely have enough to pay the bills and support my family. May I please have a small raise? Even by 5 cents?

me: Oh, you poor thing. You want a raise? I'll tell you what, I'll give you a raise! A $10 raise since I feel so bad for you.

employee: Really? Oh, thank you! Now I can provide my family with all their needs!

me: Guess what? You don't get a raise! YOU'RE FIRED BíTCH!!! lmao

lol it impossible for me to get a raise when i earn more than my boss on an hourly basis but not in term of authority wise.

i would say 'hey i've been here long enough, i deserve a chance to advance further in the company, don't you think?" "now give me a raise or i'll blow your head off NOW"
