Asia Finest Discussion Forum > Asian Culture > Thai Chat > Thai Serious Talk

yes, we can. yes, we can. yes, we can.

My fourth-grade nephew say that everytime he sees Obama on TV.

I 'm also in love with Mr. Obama.

What about you guys?

Do you like him?

Do you think he is for real? Should he be the president of the most powerful country?

If he is running for PM in Thailand, would you elect him?

Bongo!

We are on people. We are one nation.

I see no black S.C. I see no white S.C. I see S.C.

Yes, we can.

QUOTE
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.
We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. (We want change.)
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea: Yes We Can.

I have read his book about him growing up as a poor half-caste kid in Indonesia and America... his mom is a middle american woman while his dad was a Kenyan Luo. Obama has worked with black folks who lived in the ghettoes of Chicago. He is by far the most articulate and global man in American presidency... i have not seen another man as under-privileged as him run for the presidency of the most powerful nation of earth. His thoughts on power and the misuse of power is very insightful. Read his book "Dreams of My Father". I am glad to have lived in Kenya and understand his feelings for that country and his father.

If he is elected, he will certainly be an icon for what America stands for --- land of the free!

I'm looking for torrents of his two famous books. Could you point me to the right direction?

Or should I buy them from amazon?

Thailand Please Change & Yes We Can. Eventhough it would take time for the politic here embarassedlaugh.gif

He keeps on making generic claims about "change" and how "we're the people we were waiting for".

But has he actually said any specific plans with which he hopes to implement this ambiguous "change"?

Seriously, Obama's all about "inspirational speeches" but I've yet to hear any specific policy plans. What's he going to do once he gets in the White House?

"Oh crap, what do I do now?"

i see his candidacy totally diffrent from Jesse and the other black dude.

obama is not a son of slaves.

his dad is a foreigner. his mom is a white woman.

he did not get much support from black voters until he won Iowa.

he does not campaign on civil rights like other "black candiadtes".

if you read everything about him without thinking that he's black, he will be your dream politician.

i'm not racist. but i wish he were white.
yawn
He's just as much white as he is black...
AnAttA

but he looks black.

i don't even sleep well if i know that a black guy is sleeping next door.

but if he get elected and went on to become a good president

it will change everything

He doesn't look like any fully-black guy I know. He's half black, and he looks half black.

That's partly why I feel this "first black president" claim is a overhyped. =/

Aaaanyways I'm sorry black people cause you insomnia.
AnAttA
come on.

i'm just being honest.

the democrat primary would have been over by now if he is a white guy.

i listened to his audio book. i like it so much. i'm inspired. I even subscribed to his youtube channel. i have listened to his "a more perfect union" too many times. i like his messages.

but there are many non-black voters who wish Barack Hussein Obama were Brad Pitt.
