if this is what you concern, then we should have 2 mods (1 who is a taiwanese and the other who is non-asian). problem solves!

it's balance right?
but it's hard to find a unbias mod that do a good job.
i mean even the non-asian mods, they aren't delicate to doing a good job for a particular ethic forum because they aren't part of that ethic. do you know what i mean? like why should i care if i'm not that ethic group?
that is one reason why you see troll making crazy topic and mods don't react quickly enough.
but this problem is far from china forum though because imo the mod in china chat is very quick to take action.
maybe because those china chat mods are chinese and know what they are doing.
just my .25 cent.

I definitely know where you're coming from. Ideally someone who is Taiwanese would be much more interested in keeping the Taiwanese chat sub-forum clean than a random guy like myself would. They have more invested in the culture, they have a sense of cultural pride, they're concerned with being able to discuss Taiwanese issues without all of the trolls coming in starting $hit for no more reason than they feel like being an annoyance. As I mentioned previously, a knowledge of the language and culture of a particular chat forum would also be helpful. For those reasons I definitely do think that at least half of your mods for any particular ethnic chat should be of that ethnicity.
I suppose the only point I was really trying to make was that (and the fact that I'm saying this probably doesn't matter, as Ben has the ultimate choice anyway, although I personally think the active members of a particular chat forum should have more of a say in who becomes mod than someone who rarely visits it, even if he's the Admin.) just take into consideration the fact that it's important that your mod is not so much Pro-Taiwanese, Anti-_____, as he/she is Pro-Taiwanese discussion. The most important thing I suppose is just that your mod is open-minded. No one wants trolls, trolls eliminate intelligent discussion. But it's also important that the mod isn't so radically Pro-Taiwanese that he's no going to allow any criticism of Taiwanese issues, even from other Taiwanese individuals.
If you do get a couple non-Taiwanese mods though (which is likely) the most important thing you can do is help the mod out by reporting any trolling that's going on. If they're not entirely incompetent they'll be as concerned with keeping the forum clean and facilitating discussion as anyone else would. That is their entire job, after all, regardless of their ethnicity. To keep the forum relatively amicable and to allow for free and open discussion.
I'll leave you guys be for now though, sorry for meddling in your affairs, just thought I'd interject with my feelings on the mod issue in general. Take it easy river.
