Marquez should have won... I think they just made the knockdown worth more than it should really be, marquez obviously got more during the rounds.... it looks like they just gave it pak....

Again the fight was so close, it could have gone either way but hey Manny won and that's all it matters. Next!

Oh come on, its not that close to the point that you dont know who actually won. In this case, its pretty obvious... not by far but close not to be able to tell. If you feel proud of winning something that is given instead of earned then thats you... and we talk so much about pride....

I disagree bro, i saw some instances (cant remember which round) that he thew the right job and did not fire the left straight and Marquez was in reach, whats up with that?

too scared to get hit by a counter left hook. just remember, marquez got smarts, has good timing, and excellent counter punching. for a guy like pacman who loses balance with his left power shots, its easy prey for marquez. lol even with his iron chin, he wouldnt risk it. but thats one difference about manny this time 2nd bout. hes more careful in choosing his moves compared to his last fight. hes trying to swing with marquez' game. but i do agree, he shouldve thrown more combinations, and moving the opposite way wouldve made it effective.

ok like everyone here, i also felt like it was an unfair bout for marquez, and all of us certainly give credit to marquez here. however, if ur gonna throw a power punch, at least make it look convincing and at least knock the dude down, lights out no excuses. sometimes no matter how many times u come back with points, its the quality that makes the difference in the fight. certainly, it was pacquiao's powerful left that gave the judges the exclamation mark on last night's fight. 3 times, marquez was rocked, and one of the 3 was a KD. marquez' right was clean and effective, but did it rock manny? seems like it cuz manny always gets out of balance, but no manny never got rocked. at least thats how i look at it, my honest opinion.

Lol it was actually that close of a fight to call. Im proud and all but, Im just talking about it here as a boxing fan and not just a Filipino. You and your politics.

Yea I think so too, but after the KD, Manny was connecting it without a response from Marquez. Pacquiao shoud have capitalized on that, cos when a fighter got KD, he tends to loss his confidence momentarily.

I could only see 2-3 fights more from Pacquiao and bye bye boxing hello Politics embarassedlaugh.gif

^^^Quality shouldnt be the turning point between win or lose. If thats the case then it should matter how every boxer punches, and every punch should be studied and counted... which is ridiculous because it would be subjective. It should be done on technicalities so it would be fair.
Pink Cream
should of been 2 kd's in round 3. marquez held onto the ropes.
havent seen the full fight yet but from what i've seen from comments. most of them seem to have a personal vandeta against pacquiao... my guess is that they find pacfans really annoying

it would be unfair that way. it would be a total lopsided match unless TKOd or KOd. but agree on technicalities... but i dunno, i sorta feel like it would turn out to be a gymnastic sport. lol. embarassedlaugh.gif

marquez was credited for his effective counters. but it wasnt enough to come back from a 10/9 - 9/10 scoring. the thing was, marquez like pacman wasnt consistent in winning rounds consecutively. thats why it was a close fight. the truth of the matter is, whenever marquez was winning a rd, he strafes pacquiao more convincingly with many combinations. although pacman's winning rds were flat and rusty, pacquiao still won rds. it was a sea saw battle.. but since, he wasnt consistent of winning rds in a row, he couldnt pay off his KD.

u get credit for ur quantity in a score of 10 or 9 b. wanna do better than that? get a KD and score a 10/8.

No parade for Pacquiao in Manila

Philippine Daily Inquirer
MANILA, Philippines – Only banners and streamers congratulating Manny Pacquiao will be seen in Manila after one of his managers turned down the city government’s offer of a motorcade in the boxing champ’s honor.

Mayor Alfredo Lim said Tuesday that Pacquiao’s business manager, Eric Pineda, turned down their offer because there were reportedly plans to parade the new World Boxing Council super flyweight champion around Metro Manila, instead of just the City of Manila.

“We have to bow to their decision. We will just put banners congratulating Pacquiao for his victory in the city’s main thoroughfares,” Lim said.

During the term of Lim’s predecessor Lito Atienza, who was close to the boxer, Pacquiao always attended the victory parades given by the city government in his honor.

wow i actually just watched the fight all over again on youtube. and i actually kept score myself, without bias. pacquiao won alot more rds than i thought he did, and ironically i did end up a score of 113-114 for pacquiao, just like tom miller. at first it looked like marquez won, but when i scored it myself, and watched each round closely, pacquiao did connect more punches than i thought he did. marquez just seemed like he won because he was throwing more punches and connected some good rights, but i was shocked how manny dodged and avoided many of marquez' counters. after watching this fight again, ive seen for myself how manny won the fight, and of course one of the reasons was his kd on marquez. it looked like a floyd mayweather vs ricky hatton fight, without the knock out. i proved myself wrong, MANNY did win the fight fairly... just excuse the headbutts biggrin.gif i had marquez winning rd 11-12 though.

GenSan execs prepare red carpet welcome for Pacquiao

By Aquiles Zonio

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Setting aside politics, the city government has announced a red carpet welcome for Asian boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao, who grabbed the World Boxing Council Super featherweight title from Juan Miguel Marquez, is a political opponent of Mayor Pedro Acharon.

The boxer ran and lost in the 2007 congressional elections against Acharon party mate Darlene Custodio. Acharon and Pacquiao used to be close friends.

Ernesto Quisay, Acharon’s chief of staff, said on Wednesday that the city government was preparing for Pacquiao’s expected homecoming on March 24.

He said like the rest of the nation, officials and residents here were also excited to see Pacquiao home after his bout with Marquez.

Quisay said compared with previous homecoming events for Pacquiao, this would be “bigger” because he was now a world title-holder.

He said the Filipino ring idol would be met at the airport by a welcoming party led by city officials.

“There will be activities and presentations at the airport before (the) motorcade,” he said.

Based on the plan, the motorcade will wind up at the Oval Plaza covered court here, where a welcome program and a press conference will be held.

Pacquiao fight fatal for 2 fans in Negros, Capiz

BACOLOD CITY – A fan of boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in La Castellana, Negros Occidental died of massive heart attack in the middle of the fight on Sunday while another fan in Capiz died 20 hours after he suffered a stroke, also while watching last Sunday’s fight.

Celedonio Dingle Sr., 73, of Barangay Nato, La Castellana, was watching the fight on television when he suffered a massive heart attack and died.

Dingle, a retired sugar farm worker, had gone to La Castellana town to watch the fight at the house of his son in-in-law Julio Gonzales, said Nato Barangay Captain William Pendon, also a son-in-law of Dingle.

At the house of Gonzales, Dingle jumped up and down when Pacquiao knocked Marquez down in the third round and cheered his idol on until the sixth round. But in the seventh round Dingle said he was not feeling well and sat down on the sofa, Pendon said.

Dingle’s relatives noticed that he had become pale. They rushed him to the clinic of Dr. Enrico Elumba but he was declared dead an hour later.

Another Pacquiao fan, Marcelino Dorado, 77, of Barangay Angub, Cuartero, Capiz died 20 hours after he was taken to the hospital.

Dorado had shouted excitedly every time Pacquiao hit Marquez, said Dorado’s neighbor Jerby Flores. However, on the eighth round of the fight, he suddenly slumped on his chair, saliva dribbling out of his mouth, said Flores.

Dorado died at the Capiz Emmanuel Hospital.
