On my way home from work yesterday a man thought i was 17.
I bought a friend a case of beer over the holidays. the cashier swore i gave her a phony driver's license. it took me 20 minutes to convince the store manager to believe my age.
last time i went to the movies, the ticket person denied me access to a rated 'r' movie because he didn't believe my age or driver's license.
when my dad visited me in college all of my gfs thought my dad was 'my man.' i told those fu-kers, 'that's my father and he is 30 years older than me.'
i went to a art gallery showing recently. the ticket master automatically charged me the student fare (17 & younger) admission. i didn't say a word.

That probably varies depending on the opinion of the viewer, but I don't look 17. I don't need to show ID to buy cigarettes.

I get mistaken for younger...With glasses and a ponytail, I get 17-19.
When I'm dressed up with makeup, most I get is 21 or 22.
I'm 25.

And yes, it is nice.

When I was younger, people thought I was older. When I was 14 and 15 people thought I was 17 and 18. When I was 19 and 20 people thought I was 23-25.
Now that I'm 22, people usually get it head on, mainly bec I dress and act like a little kid now.

It is a pain when you don't look old enough to get into night clubs and you're 24, but maybe if things go well in the ageing stakes, it turns out better as you get older on your passport but not so much on your moosh.
Just a funny one I remember hearing a few years back. My Sister and my Mum went out with their respective b/fs on some mother/daughter kind of date to the local casino, where you have to be 18 for admission. My 14 yo sis got straight in the door without questioning, and then they asked my 35 yo Mum for ID, and apparently couldn't decide if it was fake or not until b/f stepped in to confirm that she was with him. Sister certainly wasn't coming back once she'd been allowed in. She didn't have any fake ID, but still, you'd think that somebody accompanied by their own parent would be allowed access to licenced premises, like it usually is in pubs and stuff. Too bad if your mum and dad can't get in because they look too young though.

Agree with both posts, although with me it's more the full beard treatment that makes me look my age. A three-day growth doesn't make much difference it seems, but if I go three months without anything more than a beard trim, the difference in the way other strangers treat me is quite noticable. It's as if a beard gets you respect, but whether that's for your older-aged appearance or the beard itself? Maybe it differs between strangers, but probably both mean something to someone. Looking younger than you really are can take a lot of getting over in some social situations.
Either way, I don't look very Asian, especially with the beard, and I think the facial hair probably comes from my maternal side (although I don't mean my Mum but her father etc.). It's also rather bad form in Thailand not to shave twice each day, and apart from the tropical heat factor, I reckon the respect you might get by looking intelligent and well-dressed might be offset by a beard in some scenarios. It's definitely uncouth not to shave at least every morning in LOS.

People say that I look younger. They act very differently towards me after they hear my age. It's strange because people who were treating me like a teenager were suddenly acting cautious towards me. Those same people actually bowed at me. There was this guy who used to lecture me about his political views. After he found out my age, he suddenly got less talkative.
