With the use of the .au suffix on thaiselect.com.au, it can only strengthen ties between Australia and Thailand. Rather baffling but? confused.gif

This is ridiculous. There is Thai restaurants and there are authentic Thai restaurants. What will certified Thai restaurants be? A real Thai Chef in the kitchen?

For Thai restaurants
Objectives of “Thai Select” certification

To recognise and endorse quality Thai restaurants.
To increase the recognition of quality Thai restaurants.
To encourage Thai restaurateurs to embrace a quality standard at an international level.
Categories of Thai restaurants certified as a “Thai Select” restaurant

Traditional Thai Cuisine: Restaurants offering Thai cuisine with traditional recipe and maintaining traditional Thai style.
Modern Thai Cuisine: Restaurants offering Modern Thai cuisine incorporating food of different countries such as Spaghetti served with Thai green curry sauce, or restaurants that do not serve food and have interior decoration that would be considered traditionally Thai style.
Special Thai Cuisine: Restaurants offering specialty Thai cuisine.
Chain restaurants with menus developed with co-operation from the Royal Thai Government* (Honourable “Thai Select”) and offering only Thai cuisine.

Why not register a domain name under thaiselect.gov.th then, if they want to take things seriously. If they register a Thai food website under an Australian domain, wouldn't you expect the quisine to end up like the Chinese restaurants in Au? Chicken chowmein, sweet'n'sour pork, special fried rice and a bag of spring rolls.

Not a very authentic starting point to try to run TH out of AU. I hope they can do better than that, honestly. What's the special of the day? Spicy Kangaroo Pie, Thai style?

i was thinking the same thing about why .com.au not org or something more global.

i don't see or hear the ad bout thatselect anywhere else except on 2dayfm Sydney radio.

however, after few seconds investigation, i found 3 thaiselect websites that are up and running
.com.au,.co.nz and .be

it is very popular term among thai web surfers. because สัตว์ is censored by most websites, สาด is used instead.

สัตว์ - animal
สาด - throw liquid at

they got totally meaning, but very similar sound.

The Thai Australian food that I give a go is the Thai Beef Salad. The Australian porthouse steak mint and lime they go well together. In Thailand its hard to find the good beef munch.gif

In Australia the most visit food stall for me is kind of Kebab shop which is cheap and big serve ,Thai food is bits expensive though biggthumpup.gif
