Dancing is such an integral part of Filipino culture. I've noticed that we, as a people, simple love to dance. Doesn't matter what - we are exposed to almost everything Hip-Hop, Ballroom, Latin, Tribal, Disco, Broadway, ect... In hip-hop, we have Philippine All Stars, Jabbawockeez(majority), Kaba Modern, Pink Mafia, and countless other Pilipino Culture groups through out the many University here in the U.S. In Ballroom and Latin Dancing, I've noticed many Filipinos dominate in different competitions. I do, however, wish there would be more Ballroom and Latin dancing taught in the Philippine Education curriculum. We do get to do some Latin dancing, but not like the Latin countries where it's a way of life.
Festivals like Sinulog, Dinagyang, Maskarahan, Sandugo, Ati-atihan, and so many others, gives everyone in the community the chance to participate and be part of the entertainment. Because of America's influence, we learned all the trends as they come Swing and Ragtime around WWII, Disco fever in the 70's, Hip-Hop in the 80's and 90's.
