Maybe less emphasis on beauty pageants than before? A lot of contestants in the past would enter these competitions often in hope to make it to Bollywood, but these days it seems if/when they win, they tend not to remain particularly famous.

Pageant rules have changed. For the last few years no Miss India was able to win either the Miss World or the Miss Universe contests. They even weren't able to come in top 5.

I think it's the opposite. Nowadays it seems the contestants are wannabes who want to use the pageant to enter Bollywood after seeing so many successful winners in the past who end up going into the industry.





I looked them over and these are the ones I like:

fyi there are some NRIs among these finalists, and they don't look any better. Recommending nose jobs is very lame, I hate Miss USA for the same reason their whole body from head to toe gets under the knife to give it a more perfect look, or fake look. Nothing natural about it.

These Latin American countries also picked up the culture of having cosmetic surgeries from USA. Look at the contestants from Venezuela, Brazil, USA etc. they all have plastic surgeries to get perfect looks. In all of Americas the ordinary people and aspiring models or actors opting for cosmetic surgeries is very high. It kills the very essence of beauty.

Yes the 2006 contestant from Puerto Rico I just saw her pic, looks like her cosmetic surgeon have overdone the things. She looks so artificial.

Cosmetic surgery is a norm in beauty contests and entertainment industries all over the world, it is just that in some countries people opting for cosmetic surgeries is more. Just look at China, Korea, Japan every single person in entertainment or beauty business in these countries had some kind of beauty enhancement surgery. Yes Koena Mitra, and also Shilpa Shetty had a nose job.

I don't know if 'fair and lovely' really works. Just stay out of the Sun for at least two months, and you will get the desired effects. It is just that the manufacturers of 'fair and lovely' claim to make the process cut short to a week's time.
